JORDAN: Music with emotion, feeling, soul or fury, that i can shake my hip, stagedive, contemplate the meaning of life, convulse, slide, bang mi head, twirl, mosh, slow skank, bugaloo, do the moonwalk and dance to.
Some of my favorite music I've ever seen live: Christopher Robin, Karp(the only band i ever got whiplash from banging my head to), Modest Mouse(in the basement/house show days), Dirty Three(when I've seen em in Canada, most heart stirring music i ever heard), Betty Cracker, Bob Log III, Wack Ass Bitch, Cypress Hill(free show in Seattle at Magnusson park, people went apeshit, I've never seen so many people bobbing up and down stoned to Hip Hop; Beautiful!), Banat Sahar and Band, Blackalicious(on a bill in New Orleans with KRS-1 and Talib Kweli; they had the juice), Robert Blake(in the Humdinger Basement), Justin Hinds and the Dominoes(with Prince Pauper in New Orleans), Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings(first time she came to Bellingham, best show I've ever seen here, 100% DYNAMITE!), Anthony B, Queen Ifrica, Prince Pauper(even though he's a selector), Swing Swang Swung, New Bad Things, Superunity, Noggin, Superduo, Unwound, Sun City Girls, Dead Moon, and to be continued...

Television:

MEI MEI: Dora the Explorer, Peanuts, Barney, Spongebob Squarepants, Muppets show. Big bear in the big Blue House. Blues Clues. Sesame Street.
YORDAN: Fat Albert, Spongebob Squarepants, Muppets, Sesame Street, early MTV(when it came out I was about 7), Different Strokes, Batman with Adam West(i used to have a poster signed when he came to the Seattle Center, I was probably 4 or 5), Wild Wild West(the old west meets James bond TV show that was on right after Batman, it was cool), 1980's pro Wrestling, to be continued....I can't easily remember what I used to watch because i haven't watched TV for about 14 years. TV made me feel crazy, i hate the interuption of commercials and i figured it only added to my nervous energy and attention deficit. So I'm not hopping on a highhorse looking down at people who do watch it. My mom does and there are some cool things about TV like knowing some of what is going on in the world (to a filtered degree), informative programs, the History Channel, cooking shows, movies, and music vids....but for the most part I'm glad i don't have TV right now because i don't need another thing to distract me from what I should be doing like music, art, writing or any form of self expression or walking outside.

Books:

DOROTHY GAIL from KANSAS: Where the Wild things are, Sesame Street, Going to the doctor book at the Co-op. the Jungle Book Book. Tarzan. Book of Animals. Wizard of Oz books. Gigi. Rainbows. Chronicles of Narnia. Grover book. the GRouchy Ladybug. I love you Forever... to be continued
JORDY-BO: Siddartha (from what I remember of it)-Hesse, Where the Wild things are- Sendak, Free Play-Nachmanovich, Writing Down the Bones- Goldberg, Total Self Confidence(sounds cheesy, but it's affirming toward manifesting your life the way you want it to be)-, the Tao Te Ching- Tzu, Reggae Rough Guide(very informative history of all genres of Jamaican music with references to great artists and releases)-Barrow/Dalton, How the Monkeys Fished for the moon-Xia/Laiming...I'll come back to this part..
Honestly (as if it weren't obvious) I dont read that much and if I do it's usually because I want to learn something about history or to give me a different perspective.. I like to read and wish to do more of it which is part of the reason I put myself in school, so that I would have to read about some new and interesting things. Usually, naturally i gravitate to physical activities like music, exercise, hanging out and getting to know people or hanging out with friends, yoga, kissing, sex, or anything w/ movement and energy instead of opting to read.
I think the reason or part of the reason I don't read much is because when i was in first grade, when we were learning to read (i was in private school til 4th grade), i remember feeling discouraged and not being able to concentrate (reading the same page multiple times). This unfocus alone could have occured for many reasons: 1)My folks were seperating at the time, 2) the reading material was totally uninteresting and 3)the method in which it was taught. I often ended up staring out the window and waiting for recess. I always excelled at writing, drawing and music(expressive arts)and didn't fair so well in the literary subjects.
I am very thankful to be a student at Fairhaven College at WWU where I can study things I'm interested in, learn in a more community environment where you actually get to know and learn from the other people in your classes and where there are different styles of teaching applied to the curriculum.
Another reason I might not be an avid reader I figured out when i went back to school recently: I had to strain to see what i was reading. I needed glasses. Now that I have glasses, it makes a big difference. It makes me wonder how my life would have been different had I had them all this time, although I am happy with my life and experiences and have no regrets. Anyways that's what i have to say related to books. I know that if and when I get to a place in my life where reading is more a part of my life, I'll have no shortage of books to read nor a shortage of friends to ask advice on such material. Especially my sweetheart Tina Lee who is a readaholic.

Heroes:

MEI: My Friends at Loving Space (my PreSchool). Their ghostes and they don't talk because they have blankets over their heads. But then I take the blankets off.
JORDAN: Michael Griffin. And anyone who is kind, humble and willing to be honest and open to talking about life and it's intricacies.
