Will Pendarvis (Sirius, KROQ) writes:
"as a 20 + year veteran of the music industry I've seen it all. I was there when an unknown Guns N Roses played for 13 people in the basement of a civic center. I've seen Mookie Blaylock play before they had to change the name of the band to Pearl Jam and I was privileged enough to see Metallica with Cliff Burton. I have seen some of the biggest bands in the world when they were their hungriest. This band sosohuman has done the impossible. They have impressed me."
After 7 years and more than 20 trips across the Country sosohuman has played shows with 70 different drummers and auditioned over 200 others. So how did Earl (Vocals, Guitar) and Spankee (Bass) finally meet their drumming soul-mate Rob Oswald (QOTSA, Karma To Burn)? They put an ad on Craigs List! And why did such an accomplished drummer choose to join sosohuman? Because sosohuman makes honest music, says Rob. Their songs are a collection of experiences and emotions, and playing them to an audience is their passion. If these guys were making music to be rich or famous, they would have quit a long time ago.
Earl and Spankee met as teens and grew up on opposite sides of the Pennsylvania/New Jersey border. Spankee moved to Florida with his family and played in several bands while Earl moved to Manhattans East Village and also joined a few groups as a guitar player. The two reconnected a few years later in Brooklyn and formed the foundation for what would become sosohuman.
They hit the studio with Grammy Award winning producer Michael Patterson (Beck, Duran Duran, She Wants Revenge, Ringside, BMRC) in 2006 and recorded their first album, Twenty-Six . The bands goal was to record an album that was real. They wanted to be able to capture their raw sound and the true energy that they demonstrate in a live performance. Twenty Six encapsulates all of the bands joy, pain, happiness and strife on the road to making this album. No one is hungrier than this band and no other band will outwork them. All you need to know about sosohuman is right there in the music. You want to know what it's like to live in your van on Venice Beach, drinking the fountain water and thinking about the "friend" who just screwed you over? Listen to "Bad Taste". You want to know what it's like to feel LUCKY to have a few REAL friends who support your crazy dream? Listen to "Homeless". This band evokes an extremely powerful reaction from their audience and their music captivates everyone who comes in contact with it.
In a world full of overproduced music and unrealistic albums. this is real, raw, throwback rock n roll music. They light the stage on fire with raw intensity and vicious energy that leaves some fans standing in awe while others dance their hearts out. People simply cannot believe what they are seeing come out of only three musicians. Beware rock n roll fans! There is a light at the end of the tunnelIts the front headlight on the sosohuman freight train and its barreling down the tracks right at you!
