Chinaman is the youngest of three children growing up in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. His parents emigrated from China over twenty years ago to seek a better life for their three children. Growing up, Chinaman soon realised the importance of family as his parents instilled into him patience, determination and sacrifice through their persistence in providing all they could with what they had to their children.Chinaman began boxing at the age of 17, training in the University of Queensland boxing gym. His head trainer at that time was Tom Guivarra. His trainer at the time taught the young fighter fundamentals of ring craft and discipline to apply these tools in the ring. Chinaman adapted quickly and soon was ready to test his skills with the best.
Being the only Chinese boxer in the state, Chinaman feels a sense of pride which he uses as his motivation to win. Chinaman is proud of his heritage and feels obliged to be a role model for all people but to also be a role model for his community.
Having a successful career, Chinaman has won several titles during his stint in boxing and has plans for capture even more as he progresses to be one of the best boxers in the world.
Chinaman is the former South East Queensland Champion, the former National Golden Gloves Champion, the Current Wide Bay Champion and Bronze medalist in the recent State Championships.
As well as being an accomplished boxer, Chinaman is also a part-time model and helps his community by talking to individuals and helping them set up their goals in life, "if I can motivate them to get out of their current situations and help them see their own potential in life then I feel like I'm doing a good job".
Now having completed his Bachelor degree in Business majoring in Marketing and specialising in Integrated Marketing Communications, Chinaman hopes to continue his career in boxing and eventually move into event promotions for Boxing. "I truly believe boxing is a great sport and that right now everyday people have a misconception of was boxing really is, and I want to be able to educated to everyone that boxing is more than just people beating each other. Its about having both physical and mental strength to overcome the challenges that our opponent places on you" said Chinaman.
