Lisa Rachel Harris is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. She's a veteran performer at the St. Louis Black Repertory Company. Her credits include; Dreamgirls, Raisin, The River Niger, Damn Yankees, BOO, Waiting To Be Invited, The Dance On Widow’s Row, Ain’t Misbehavin’, The Tap Dance Kid, Blues For A Alabama Sky, and Tell Me Somethin’ Good. Lisa has been singing for the Lord most of her life.She is the sixth of seven Ministers’ children. She started singing solos and directing the church choir at age 11and has been calling down heaven ever since. Although her first love is for the stage, she has great aspirations to build her film career.Llysa Harris has appeared in the movie ‘Malcolm X’ starring Denzel Washington, as well as, several commercials and an industrial film with hometown celebrity and friend, Sean Blakemore. She has shared the stage with many great performers, such as Mariah Carey, Freddie Jackson, Salt n Pepper, Smokey Norful, Percy Bady, Erik Kilpatrick, Eric Ware, Roz White, Maya Azucena, and many more. She has performed as a professional actress for the past ten years in regional theaters across the country. She recently appeared opposite her mentor and star of Broadway and Film, Sandra-Reeves Phillips. She is a three-time winner of the nationally televised amateur competition, “Showtime At The Apollo” where she defeated the great Gospel balladeer, Darwin Hobbs, and a former background singer for Tony Award winner, Melba Moore.She was selected for the “New Artist Showcase” at the Gospel Music Workshop of America Convention in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1997.In 2003 Llysa released her first long awaited single, entitled, “I Believe”which became a favorite of the Gospel stations in the St. Louis and Illinois area. She plans to complete her album in the near future. Watch out for this rising star.
