About Me

Hello. I was born & raised in Ashland, KY, and attended Holy Family school for "12" grueling years lol. I started playing drums and guitar when I was around 14-15 yrs old, and later played in a few bands. You can hear a few old tracks of 2 of those bands on the left-side player, with some retro photos in my pics area. Although I was mainly a drummer in those days, I still write and play a little guitar, and have begun learning the keyboards. Guess I'm too old or lazy to start a real band, lol. In my blog area you will find brief stories about some of my original tunes, particularly talking about the friends, and family I have recorded songs with in the past few years, and to tell a little about the songs themselves. Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Just me for now, writing and recording in "Happy Hollow" on some less-than-perfect equipment lol, enjoying re-doing some of my older tunes, and starting to write some new ones. I have also been fortunate to collaborate with some friends and my niece along the way: Webster Struthers of Selma, NC plays mandolin and sings harmony on my "Folkgrass" tunes, James Moore of Lexington, KY played electric bass & acoustic guitar on "Nothin In The World", while niece Amy Watkins of Nashville co-produced and sang with me on the tune. And Chris Kitchen of Ashland, KY added his guitar talents to "Might Be Me". The first 4 cuts below are from my 1970s bands ROACHE and QUIET REIGN. Thanks to J.B. Hodges who has preserved these tracks for over 30 years. ..
Influences: Pretty much every Top 40 or AOR hit I listened to from the age of 8(um, that would be the 1960s), and any bands who recorded songs with unique and/or challenging rythmns. That would include of course, everyone from The Beatles to Chicago to ZZ Top. I like to listen to most any style of music: jazz, blues, southern rock, classic rock, pop, acoustic, some metal, some current rock, some country, etc. It's like my idol, jazz drummer Buddy Rich once said,"There's only 2 kinds of music...good, and bad."
Sounds Like: REST IN PEACE GUYS! And, thanks for the memories. ************************************************************ **************************************** Chris Kitchen/Bill Fraley(Ashland, KY) STORMCROW(Nitro,WV)
