So I say I listen to everything except for punk, and country...but I'm more open to songs and artists than genres.I love reggae! My old and new favorites include Bob Marley, Damian Marley, Stephen Marley (definite trend there), Shabba Ranks, Maxi Priest, Buju Banton, Born Jamericans, Vybz Cartel, Beenie Man, Lady Saw, Elephant Man...you get the point.Other artists I can't get enough of: Lauryn Hill, Busta Rhymes, Prince, Aaliyah, Cunninglynguists, Jean Grae, Salif Keita, Youssou N'Dour, Fela, Mos Def, Common, Missy Elliot, TLC, Floetry, Basement Jaxx, Kelis, Nas, M.I.A., Outkast, Morcheeba, Method Man, Mariah (pre and post craziness), Amel Larrieux, Angie Stone...The list goes on...but I'll stop there.
I'm all over the place with this one. I like think pieces and comedies the most:Anchor Man, I Heart Huckabees, Malcolm X, Snatch, Oceans 11 & 12, Princess Bride, V for Vendetta, X-Men (all of them!!!) rock on Marvel Comics!, Inside Man, Zoolander, Belly, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Much Ado About Nothing, La Haine...
I used to watch a lot of TV...but lately I haven't had time for much else other than the news. BBC's got it going on...but I don't count that as my favorite show. Shows that I would skip a meal to watch (which is good indicator of how much I love the show...'cause I love to eat) include - A good episode of CSI or Law and Order:SVU, and season finales of reality shows like America's Next Top Model or American Idol (Go Jordin!!). Most of what I watch is trash...but such is the nature of American television.
Mountains Beyond Mountains, Reveille for Radicals, Black Skin White Masks, The African American Century...Difficult to populate the list 'cause most of what I read is kinda academic...and I don't feel like betraying how much of a nerd I am. :)
Those who have valiantly struggled (in action or with words) for causes bigger than their own, with foresight, fortitude, and compassion; realizing that despite historical and current prejudices and inequities, collective action against injustice can make a world of difference or an entirely different world.Nelson Mandela, Malcolm X, Franz Fanon, Galileo :), Lauryn Hill...
