I like to listen when others talk, and can carry a monologue if there's too much silence. I've always loved watching sports, and played or coached a few. My talents vary from home gardening, to making drums, and helping others work through personal struggles. I love natural healing books and meeting those who show an ability to utilize the information that has been developed through centuries of medicine and mystic arts.
Anyone who likes music, sports, or just likes good intelligent conversation. Being attractive is an attitude, rather than a physical attribute. It's difficult for some people to understand that although you may be good looking, you don't have the right to mistreat others who are not as egotistical and don't think looks are so important. "And you know you look good!" (I tell audiences this on a regular basis because I see the beauty in us all.)
I have recorded with R&B, Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Country (not my favorite but pays well), Reggae, and Afro-pop bands during the span of my career. I love any music that makes me feel good and puts a smile on the face of those who like to listen. I live for the stage, performing with bands, creating music for plays, playing drums for dancers, etc.
"The Brother From Another Planet" is one of my all time favorites! Martial arts movies are also favorites. I also like well acted tear-jerkers like those featuring serious struggles of groups of people and individuals. Political struggles, especially civil rights movies, psychological development profiles, social commentaries, and any movie that involves someone growing from personal triumph. Oh yeah, "The Wiz" featuring the music of Quincy Jones. Not too crazy about Dorothy, but the Lion, Tin Man, and even the Scarecrow were great (before MJ lost his color). :)
Not much TV. I mostly watch boxing, but enjoy watching kids movies with my crumb snatchers. They are such wonderful kids and I'll tolerate almost anything they want to watch, but will solve conflicts by making them watch some kids' movie that will teach them a lesson in life like those that Bill Cosby tends to produce. Intellectual stimulation is a must when conflicts arise.
Some self-help books (too many are just junk), lots of psychology, and history from the point of view of the leaders of "The Struggle."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, and any person who has endured personal tragedies to fulfill a goal. Very important to mention my parents and brothers, who continue to make great strides in solving social and racial challenges in the St. Louis area. We must remember the many great musicians and actors who helped reshape the scope of our society. May the new generation of performers stand up and help put an end to the latest onslaught of negative images of Black Americans.
