About Me

I'm single, fun loving, financially secure and love to ride in my old convertible or on my motorcycle or sip a single malt while relaxing in my hot tub. _wink_

Where I've been and Where I want to go
I'm taking a long hiatus from work. I'm partying too hard - Staying up late and sleepin' in. The "vacation" is coming to an end this winter, no wait this spring, I mean this summer - well it has to end some time.

My last European holiday was almost a month in Europe. 13 cities in 28 days. 'Jam in the Dam,' a 3 night concert, some geocaching, lots of sightseeing, many pints of generic beer and lots of traditional meals full of local flavors. I stayed in nice hotels, nicer as the trip rolled on.
I caught one of the last flights out, of New York City, in the sleet storm of March 16th, to Amsterdam, Netherlands. From there, I flew to Copenhagen, Denmark then hopped a train to Göteborg, Sweden and hopped quickly back on another to Oslo, Norway. I flew from Oslo to Helsinki, Finland and took a train to St. Petersburg, Russia. From there I took a slow bus to Tallinn, Estonia and then a faster bus to Riga, Latvia. The next bus brought me to Vilnius, Lithuania. A train took me to Warsaw, Poland and a plane then took me to Budapest, Hungary. The next train ride was to Bratislava, Slovakia and was followed by another train to Prague, Czech Republic. I took one last train ride back to Amsterdam, Netherlands via Berlin, Germany. Thats it in a nutshell.
Here are some pictures from my travels.
A gorgeous day on the Danube, in Budapest
At John Lennon Wall in Prague
Homeland Security Level sits comfortably at "Orange"
At the worlds only Frank Zappa monument, in Vilnius, Lithuania
The train change somewhere between Vilnius and Warsaw. Thank god it wasn't winter
Church of the Saviour of Spilled Blood, in St. Petersburg, Russia
Charles Bridge, Prague - From the east tower
Rembrandt and Night Watch statues
At Helsinki train station
St. George's Basilica in Prague Castle
Hiking in Prague Castle stag moat, under the north gate
Dampkring - watch the movie 'Oceans 12'
Giant's Causeway, Coleraine, Northern Ireland:
Before my european trip, I visited Mexico City, aka D.F. Lots of fun, especially in The Pink Zone - Muchachas Idas Salvajes. I saw the tunic from the miracle of the Virgin of Guadalupe. I also visited the Teotihuacán pyramids, completed by 250AD. This was all nice and fun but the world's second largest city didn't inspire me.

In the summer of 2005, I visited all 50 states. Did I visit your home town?
In addition to sightseeing, I've been Geocaching. Its can be very addictive.
Its a treasure hunt - without any real treasure. A 'hide' is published on geocaching.com. Using the published latitude, longitude and description, you use a gps to find the container and sign the log. You also log your find online. Most of these "caches" are on nature trails but many can be reached without much effort. I've hidden 25 myself. Its a worldwide game - Click the picture below and join in the fun!

My Interests

I've been living a carefree life, for more than three years. I visited all 50 states and got stranded in San Francisco for a month. I wandered around most of Europe's big cities on three extended trips. Multiple trips to Gotham and Boston. Flying to Florida, for the weekend, on a whim. Unlimited TV and video games. Countless days staying up to watch the sun rise. Waking up for the 2PM alarm. Soaking past pruning in the hot tub. Patiently waiting for the last drop to fall from the Macallan bottle. Being the oldest guy at last call (I thought this sounded cool). Laughing as the school bus announces the start of the day. Rolling over and going back to sleep. Asking for a breakfast menu just before the dinner crowd starts to arrive. Knowing the closing time of local restaurants, because you've called for 'lunch' after they've closed for the day. Scheduling all appointments for late in the day, because you can't guarantee anything before noon (But if you need me at 3AM - count on me).

I really miss my dad. Its been a long haul dealing with the grief from his passing. When my grandmother died, I couldn't understand why my dad was so depressed. It took him a long time to return to his normally upbeat attitude. It took me a few years to return to my normally upbeat attitude, after my father passed away.

On my soul searching journey to all 50 states, in 2005, this video was played on the plane as it arrived in Honolulu. It brought tears to my eyes. Some were in sadness for IZ and some were from joy from being so lucky to live a carefree life.

A picture I took, while visiting Hawaii. Its one that I am proud of.

Here are some pictures from this past summers travels

I've started editing videos that I filmed.

Traveling can be stressful:

This tree stood at the corner of my house. I was so confidant in Tom's abilities, that I didn't even move my classic car out of the carport.

I'd like to meet:

Fun loving people from near and far.

May 11, 2007: One down - fifteen to go
I was in NY today. I had tickets to see a taping of Conan. I had a wonderful time in studio 6A. Before the show, Conan came out to get us pumped. He pointed at me and told me to dance with him. Of course I did. And then he and I hugged for a moment - a moment too long. He told me to hug Max Weinberg and of course we both ran to each other and hugged. Pretty Silly! Max gave me a pair of drumsticks to help me remember the zany antics. The cameras weren't running, so there is no proof.
Except for the other 220 people.

I love music and am trying to learn the bass guitar and the ukulele. I'm going through a bluegrass phase right now. The high lonesome sound touches my soul. Watch this video and hear a style that has descended from Irish and Scottish immigrants.

Television:

Thanks to tivo, theres always something on that I want to watch. Comedy, Late Night talk shows, Travel, History, PBS, ... No Drama, Lifetime or Reality shows.

Imagine what would happen if we all stopped paying for (watching) the ads on TV. My Tivo saves me 20 minutes for every hour of TV I watch, by allowing me to fast forward past them.

(Why can't I put an image in this section?)

History and mystery are my favorites.
