I am here for Dating and Friends

About Me

Hi there. I’m from Edinburgh. I live and work here. It’s a really nice place to be. I'm a support worker helping people with learning difficulties to live independent lives. Up until three years ago I was in the construction industry then, aged 50, I decided that I was going to do something different. No real reason, no mid-life crisis, I just fancied a change. So, a period on the phones for a utilities company and a short stint in a bank interspersed by a few pleasant months of unemployment followed by a government-training course led to me becoming a carer. And as they say, the rest is history (why do they say that?) To find out a little (but not much) more about me, pop into http://veryoldheart.spaces.live.com/ If you want to know anything about me, just ask and if I can answer, I will.

My Interests

Photography. Heart of Midlothian. Deuchars IPA. Walking (sometimes up hills). Geomorphology.

I'd like to meet:

I like meeting people. I can’t say what type of people that I’d like to meet, as until I meet and talk to someone I can’t tell if we’ll get on. Plus there are different levels of friendship. There are people I chat to in my local pub that I would not wish to go on holiday with, if you get my meaning.

Music:

I like all sorts of music. Classical, Rock, Blues & Jazz. I’ll add more specific stuff later on....................................(a few days later)................Bryan Adams, John Adams, Johnny Adams, The Allmans, Blancmange, Area Code 615, Albert Ayler, Syd Barrett (R.I.P.), Chet Baker, Art Blakey, Blondie, Black Grape, Bjork, Karrin Allyson, Blood Sweat & Tears, Eric Bogle, The Bonzos, Bowie, Dave Brubeck ,Tim Buckley, Buffalo Springfield, Kate Bush, The Byrds, J.J. Cale, John Cale, Canned Heat, Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band, Caravan, The Cars, Eric Clapton, Cocteau Twins, Leonard Cohen, John Coltrane, The Beautiful South, Chick Corea, Elvis Costello, Crash Test Dummies, Jeff Beck, Robert Cray, Crazy Horse, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Steven Stills, Neil Young, Sheryl Crow, The Crusaders, Curved Air, Bucks Fizz…..what was that? I’d better stop now and try again in a couple of more days!........................(a few more days later)............OK, here we go again. Frank Zappa & The Mothers, also I'm going to mention Captain Beefheart again, Tam White, Velvet Underground, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Traffic, Texas, Taj Mahal, Steely Dan, Santana, Rolling Stones, REM, Roxy Music, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Portishead, The Police, Pink Floyd, Gram Parsons, Tom Petty, Mike Oldfield, Joni Mitchell, Steve Miller, Mighty Baby, John Mayall, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Little Feat, Huey Lewis, Annie Lennox, Cyndi Lauper, K D Lang, Alexis Korner, B B King, Carol Kidd, Joy Division, Robert Johnson, Jefferson Airplane, It's A Beautiful Day, John Lee Hooker, Jimi Hendrix, Roy Harper, Grateful Dead, Ron Geesin, Garbage, Flying Burrito Bros, Family, Eurythmics, Enya, The Edward, East of Eden, Eagles, Nick Drake, The Doors, Doobie Brothers, Dr. John, Dire Straits, Devo, Derek & the Dominoes, Miles Davis and of course how could I forget Bucks Fizz. Thank you for reading this far and not pressing the back button. The list is not complete and I could have added the likes of Iron Butterfly or the Lebron Brothers, but I did not. Cheers.

Movies:

I’m not really a movie person. Actually, I do like them but being single I don’t go on my own very often. I watch the odd one or two on the box, usually old ones.

Television:

Every year I debate whether to get rid of the set as I watch so little television. Just the odd film (see above) and some football. I only have the old-fashioned terrestrial programmes (for the younger readers, that's a bit like steam radio).

Books:

I read mostly thrillers, spy stuff and crime with a bit of literature thrown in. Most of my books come from charity shops. Oh, I’ve got a lot of photography books. I'm also partial to Bill Bryson's books because he's got a wicked sense of humour.

Heroes:

Not really got any. They vary from week to week. Last week it was thingy bob. This week it's someone else.
