Levent Candas..I developed an ambition to play drums while I was studying at Italian High School, Istanbul, Turkey. I was playing drums at home and because of my parents’ and neighbours’ complaints about noises, I decided to quit high school, and studied at the conservatory. Formerly, there was no percussion class in Istanbul Conservatory, so I had to study contrabass. I took Engin Babahan and Engin Titiz’s classes there. Since then, I’m a bass guitar player. During this period, with a group of friend we founded a Rock Band called RA, and this band became one of the leading and famous Rock figures in Turkey. Later on, I moved to Italy, Rome, to study bass at Santa Cecillia Academy, and I took Prof. Federico Rossi’s classes. When I got back Turkey, I started to play with several pop musicians such as Tarkan, Ajda Pekkan,Sibel Tuzun, Sertab Erener and Nil Karaibrahimgil. By the way, I never stopped playing Rock music and having concerts with our Rock Bands like Klips and Gur Akad Band.In 2006, I recorded and released a new Turkish Rock album with group Dilemma, which I founded in 2003. In this album, I played bass guitar and I did the vocals. This album, “Nereye Kadar”, produced by Cenk Eroglu and the first video clip of the album directed by Devrin Usta for the song titled “Var mi ki?” My soundtrack composition titled “Hep bana” for famous TV serial, “Cemberimde Gul Oya/Rose pinking on my headscarf” made a great success in Turkey, that’s why we put this song on the album. This song’s video clip directed by Cagan Irmak, was aired last year.Recently, except “Dilemma”, I’m still working and playing with my other Rock Band called “Felek”.
