My names Trent Talbot. I'm 17 years young, and a senior in highschool. I currently attend a fashion merchandising class, at the Fashion Institute of Technology, on Saturdays. F.I.T. Is located in Mahattan, NYC. It is one of the best fashion schools in the world, Next to its rival parsons. Which is also located in NYC. Fashion Merchandising is one of my future carrer choices. Although i am very interested in becoming a stylist.
Though most of you on this website try and put on this little "fashionista" persona, you may infact come to find out you're far from one. Unlike you, im actually dedicated in persuing my carrer in the fashion world. Reading up on whats going on in the fashion world is only part of it. If you dont have the talent and brains, you wont succeed. Anyone can pick out a pretty picture of a girl and post it on their page and call them selves a fashionista. Anyone can mimic a TRUE fashionistas style, and call themselves an inovator. Your not a TRUE fashionista until you come up with your own ideas, and start trends rather than follow them.
Psh, and by all means im not calling myself a fashionista. Although i am on my way to becoming one. I follow european trends/fashions, rather than creating my own. But i am starting to be more independent. And you may think its hilarious that im talking about a true fashionista vs. a wannabe. But the reality of the situation is, if you enter into the fashion industry with the "I'm a fashionista i know everything" mentality. They will break you down in a blink of the eye. So in a way, consider me as your teacher.
Call me a bitch, self centered, or all the false and non intelligent names you can think of. But the truth is, 50% of the american population, doesnt know a thing about fashion. 40% of the population think they know about fashion, but in reality are only trendy followers. Lastly, 10% of the population know about fashion, create trends, and are that "fashionista". So consider what you've just read and tell me what catagory you fall under.
