About Me

I have been drawing my entire life. The last art class i took was in junior high and i failed it miserably because i couldn't seem to turn in work that even slightly related to the assignments i'd been given. in the early nineties i began to curate weirdo art events in a crumbling farmhouse on HWY 40 outside of Lawrence, KS. this was called FLOODBAIT and maybe someday i will ressurect those shows in some shape or form. some very talented artists took part in those events, which were well attended and soaked in alcohol. my focus at that time was on drawing and painting on glass. i was the only midwestern artist to be chosen for an exhibit by weirdo comic artists in Seattle at the Art Mavens Gallery. The show was called "Comic Art '95" and featured the likes of Peter Bagge, Jim Woodring and Scott Musgrove. i even sat on a discussion panel at that deal and i think i looked pretty confused. actually, i KNOW i looked pretty confused because my old friend, Joseph Zar, was there and took some pictures. i've gone on to exhibit in a variety of seedy locations from Brooklyn to San Francisco. i was involved in the Forgotten Works collective at 619 Western in Seattle for quite awhile and you can still see some of my work at The Bad JuJu Lounge in that city. i might have a picture still on display in the dishroom of the Crocodile too but perhaps someone took it down and used it to break up their weed or chop up lines long ago. who can say? recently, i exhibited a new series of drawings at Blue Studios here in the MIssion. i've also recently shown @ The Attic, a typical SF dive bar. 3 pieces were stolen from that show and several others were sold so i guess it was a real success. currently, i'm looking for a proper space to show this new series of drawings and also painting drums here and there for C&C Drums out of Kansas City. Check out my bands too if you'd like: The Hearers, The Family Curse and my(kinda just myself project) Marcosis.
