Hi
I'm a musician based in Surry Hills. I dabbled in DJ'ing from about 1989 to 2000 and released quite a few dance tracks in the early to mid nineties under various names. I also promoted events like the 'Elevation' series of parties in Canberra and was an original founding member of 'Canberra House Authority' with Ken Cloud, Barbara Claire, and artistic genius Nige Campbell (a really tall guy with a video camera). Some of my early to mid nineties electronic dance music was released through the excellent "Clan Analogue" collective (respect!), as well as the very honest and decent Thunk label. I also did countless remixes and co-productions under various names released through labels like Sony and BMG. In the late nineties I got really bored with purely electronic music and went back to my jazz and reggae roots and also back to more traditional musical instruments and microphones. I kept all my old drum machines and synths but also started to build a collection of 1970's to 80's recording equipment which eventually became "The Brewery", my current studio project and the musical homebase for 'Compost Theory', 'The Band With Two Brains', and 'Coffee Pot'
Here are some tracks from anywhere between 1989 and now. I am always writing new stuff both solo, with my music partner Dub Advocate, the above mentioned bands, and various other people who engage me to produce or musically develop them. Dub Advocate and I have been finishing the next Compost Theory EP, as well as making good headway on our second CD which will introduce the 'Compost Theory Sound System' seven piece band. The first Compost Theory album, 'Ten Minutes 'Til Now' is available around the world through the Itunes music store as well as over 140 other major online music stores. You can currently order our CD from either Red Eye Records in Australia or from Vinyl Junkies in the UK. Some of our music is on the Compost Theory MySpace page.
I have for professional reasons been told to mention that I am also a voice actor with half a lifetimes experience. My agent is Abe's Audio http://www.abesaudio.com.au and there's a voice demo on this page.
The tracks on this page:
Itchy Dragon (1998) At the time, It was just what I wanted to hear on a big sound system at a party around 4.30 AM. Selfish really ;-) Originally released on a CD called "2-800 Thunk" through the Thunk label.
EGOR Smells Paranoia (2003); From the debut vinyl EP 'Scattered' by Compost Theory. Recently remixed, remasterd and about to be re-released.
Killer Wail (November 2007); The first finished track by the Compost Theory Sound System featuring Mat and Phil on guitars, Mark on five string bass, Dub Advocate on samples and synths, Paul on vocals and percussion, Dave on solo guitars and FOH, and myself on drums, percussion and a bit of overdubbed Fender Rhodes electric piano. This is the sound we intend to present live next year.
And finally, a quick voice demo coz I have been told I don't market myself enough. Once again, my agent is www.abesaudio.com.au.
Thanks for taking the time to read this drivel.
