Born in a small city of St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1981 as Latoya McClendon, Ms. Spade music career began when she was introduced to the Ceo of South House Records Dana (Short Fuse) Harrington in 2001.
At the age of 12 Ms. Spade was inspired by Mia X, Missy Elliot, 2pac and Lil Kim. It was when she heard the song “Backstabbers†by Lil Kim that inspired her to write her first song. It wasn’t until she meet South House, that she decided to take her talent seriously and pursue her dreams. In 2001 they formed a group called South House Representative, she hit the city by storm. They released†My Time 2 Shine†in July of 2001. In 2003 she released her Solo debut “Bossin Da Game†with the hit singles “Get’em Girl†& “Gotta Have It “featuring, Juvenile, Lil Steve, & Spank.
Ms. Spade performed and opened up for multiple artists like Master P, Ying Yang Twins, Shawty Lo, Lil Bossie, Lil Flip, Chamillionare and more. In 2006 after the lost of her mother her and her siblings Shanequa & Joshua McClendon invested the money that was left by their mother in a recording studio, they formed a label called Hustle Mode Entertainment. It was the faith that her family had in her that motivated her to strive harder towards her dream.
Ms. Spade is a well known underground hip/hop artist with a wide spread fan base. She is a talented lyricist, storyteller, writer, producer and engineer. Her music is based on real life experiences that are inspired by real life situations, so that everyone can relate. She considers herself as a real individual that is blessed to express herself through her music. Although female rappers are known to only rap about sex she is a proven fact that there’s more things a female rapper can offer to the industry. Her style is sexy/ gangster, she has a unique voice with a unique look with new creative ideals which make her stand out from the rest.
