NEXT SCREENING TO BE ANNOUNCED AT VENUE IN ADJACENT VILLAGE...High Peak Cinema is an innovative, non for profit cinema project designed to bring the best in world film to the High Peak, UK – an area where cinema facilities are generally not easily available.Using portable cinema equipment, High Peak Cinema are beginning their adventure in screening feature length films through a cinema club. With the aim of tackling social exclusion in rural communities caused by poor transport links to cinemas, High Peak Cinema are inviting local audiences with varied cinematic tastes to join other movie lovers in watching films (from Hollywood blockbusters to films with indie sensibilities) in a comfortable, easy to get to venue.With the aim to also screen local short films alongside the features in order to give that much-needed exposure to new filmmakers, High Peak Cinema hope to build up somewhat of a local filmmaking community. Their plans to expand their activities also include weekend screenings, satellite screenings in nearby villages to increase film access for all and education programmes which will involve workshops with local schools in order to educate and raise cultural and film awareness.High Peak Cinema is supported by Derbyshire Film - a scheme that uses portable cinema equipment to provide film screenings in alternative venues, particularly in areas where cinema might not otherwise be available across the county of Derbyshire.Derbyshire Film is financed by EM-Media (the regional film and media development agency for the East Midlands) the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Arts Council England, Derbyshire County Council, Amber Valley Borough Council, Bolsover District Council, Derbyshire Dales District Council, High Peak Borough Council, North East Derbyshire District Council, and South Derbyshire District Council.Keep an eye on our site for updates and screening low-downs ...
