About Me
Ben Doitel is an accomplished saxophonist residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. He received his BA in Music Performance from California State University Hayward in 2005, playing lead Alto in the award winning Jazz Ensemble – winner of the top collegiate big band award at the Reno Jazz festival among many many others. In the spring of 2007 Ben participated in the All State College Jazz Band, along with some of the top jazz students in the California State Universities. He has toured Europe twice, performing at jazz clubs and festivals all over Europe, in places like Montreux, Vienne, Verona and Umbria in Perugia, Italy. Ben has performed with leading artists such as Maria Schneider, Ingrid Jensen, Jamie Davis, Peter Erskine, Tom Harrel, Dann Zinn and The Dells, and has played at venues such as Yoshi’s jazz club and countless hotels, restaurants, wineries and farmer’s markets in San Francisco and around. He has experience playing a wide variety of music as a member of bands such as funk cover band Good Foot, progressive rock band Mirthkon, Vern Brooks Cuban Jazz Orchestra, as well as leading his own Jazz quartet, which features his original arrangements and compositions. His album credits include local hip-hop artist Yung Mars’s debut, which has made it to number 3 on College Music Journal’s Hip Hop Top 20 charts. Ben has also been teaching private lessons on the Saxophone, Clalrinet and Flute for over 8 at his private studio, and various music stores around the Bay Area.
