Herb Heinz is a composer, producer, guitarist, electronic music geek, conceptual artist and gatherer of community talents.
His current project is dud -- a collaboration of artists and musicians creating multimedia improvised rock jazz experimental hippie happenings.
Past projects have included 10 years of guitarring, singing and leaping around with Amy X Neuburg & Men; ongoing rants and experiments with the duo Hmmm... (with Mark Briggs); and co-founding and performing with the notorious MAP -- a computer-based music-theater ensemble.
Herb's tour-de-force solo CDs Failure (1998) and Another (2004) are complex, dark, cinematic, meticulously produced audio journeys through the meandering mind of an artist grappling with Big Life Questions.

"Wow!
This album should be big among the prog community and see a lot of crossover
into fans of avant-garde and even experimental pop music. This is just plain
good shit." -- Gibralter review

"Delightfully
creepy... Heinz keeps listeners on their toes with dramatic and quirky sonic
labyrinths, suddenly shifting between lullaby melodies and jerky Zappaesque
rock, fraught with experimental twiddlings, neurotic spiels, predatory guitars,
and dreamy synth undertow." -- East Bay Express
