Born and raised in west London, Jeannine Glasgow fell in love with music at an early age. At school she studied violin, piano and voice to a high standard but any inclination she may have had to embark on a career as an instrumentalist disappeared when she discovered her father’s music collection as a teenager.
Not long after her thirteenth birthday she completed her first song but needed nearly ten years, a degree in classical music from Kings College London and a promise from her brother to play the guitar for her before she had summoned enough courage to perform her own material in public.
She has come a long way from early performances at local open mic nights and is continuing to go from strength to strength. One reason for this is the enormous support she gets both on stage and off from her band which comprises her guitarist Nigel (also the guitarist and main songwriter in his own band Mr. Smith and the B Flat Band), double bassist Will and backing vocalists Amelia (her twin sister) and Lucinda (childhood friend) who cope brilliantly with the intricate harmonies Jeannine insists on writing.
Armed with a collection of songs she penned, “to inject some well needed happiness and fun back into music”, she’s spent the past year performing anywhere she could get a gig. Notable performances have included Ealing Jazz Festival in the summer of 2006, The Troubadour, the final Popworld Promotes Showcase at The Hard Rock Café and a set at Fopp Records as part of this year’s City Showcase Festival. As well as recording a 3-track demo, 2007 has seen Jeannine’s song “Unbelievable” reach the final 10 of the UK Unsigned Song Contest, featured as the editor’s pick in an April edition of the influential Record of the Day e-mail newsletter and played on BBC Radio 1 Xtra. She plans to spend the rest of 2007 performing and writing for and recording her first album towards the end of the year.
With her refreshingly uplifting lyrics and velvety smooth voice Jeannine is sure to win you over and leave you with a big smile on your face.

Jeannine Glasgow’s the latest POPWORLD Promotes artist who’s floated our boat. We love the simplicity of this tune. There's only drums and subtle percussion accompanying Jeannine but her soulful, funky vocals are so impressive that she doesnt need a full band to back her up. This is the kind of song that instantly chills you out and makes you remember that the world isn't that bad a place after all. Jeannine shares similarities with Corinne Bailey Rae, and she hasn't done too badly for herself, so it should be watch this space for Miss Glasgow. Popworld Promotes, Smile
