Cool SlideshowsI am a College Professor teaching third year nursing. I am a mom of a beautiful 11 year old boy, Omar. I am currently working on my Masters of Science in Nursing degree. I am on this because my sister seems to be obsessed with it and it is the only way I will be able to communicate with her! No really it's true! I have a great family and an amazing group of friends. I am happy and at the point in my life where I can enjoy my success. I cherish every second with my son Omar, he is the reason I push myself to be a better person everyday. He is an inspiration to me. He has Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) or Autism. He is challenged with things in life that we take for granted. So the little joys in life is what we live on. The tiny steps that we overlook daily. His giggle is infectious and he is a happy and loving boy. Other than that I have traveled all over the world for example: France, England, Turkey (my favorite so far), Holland, Mexico, several West Indian Islands, Costa Rica...the list goes on. My next big trip I want to take is to Africa. What else can I say about myself? I speak three different languages: Spanish, Italian and French. I am very interested about reading and meeting inspirational people/leaders. I have been a part of Amnesty International for over 15 years also with the Nelson Mandela Foundation, and most important the Autism Society. I am socially conscious and devote my studies and my upcomming thesis to those who are voiceless/oppressed. On a lighter note I love Basketball and my fave is Miami, although I just love to watch the game regardless of who is playing. Other than that I am excited that my sister is getting married...to a great guy named Lonny who lives in North Carolina...not excited that she is moving away from me and Omar...but it works out well, because I finally get the big brother I have always wanted and I get to be an Aunt to Lonny's little boy which I am also excited about! Anyway that is me in a short and sweet nutshell!
