About Me

Hello everyone! I'm currently making my second A-Levels attempt, now at York College.
The purpose of my existence is to be happy, to be truly awake in each moment, to improve myself and to experience as much of the universe and the different individuals in it as possible in the time that I have.
I like to use my time to play my bass guitar and saxophone, cycle, play hackey sack, find new music to listen to and films to see, spend time with my friends and read up on buddhism, philosophy and physics. I like a good argument especially when we come to the inevitable conclusion that there's no right answer! I always try to be open minded but the problem with that is that we believe ourselves to be open minded far more often than we actually are! Still, I do my best, or rather I think I do... hmm...
I also enjoy cooking, climbing trees, writing funny/crap limericks, playing video games, driving, parkour and fishing among other things.
I sing, and blast out the funky bass vibes in the bizzare punk monstrosity that is Rhymes With Orange. The band is one of the most important things to me and a lot of my time has been spent rehearsing and gigging.

My Interests

Learning, doing, rolling, watching, loving, listening, writing, copying, pasting, running, jumping, sleeping, eating, snorfking.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone and everyone.

Music:

There are a great many bands and artists whom I find, at least, acceptable. These are all that I could think of in two minutes. Metallica, Tool, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, System of a Down, Children of Bodom, Korn, SlipKnot, Cradle of Filth, Michael Jackson, Tool, Pantera, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Tenacious D, Coheed and Cambria, Guns n Roses, Jools Slater, Charlie Parker, Tool, Cypress Hill, The Kovenant, Greenday, Nirvana, Oasis, Reel Big Fish, Dragonforce, Nobuo Uematsu, Opeth, The Pogues, The Prodigy
I once spent a lot of time and money, buying and listening to, all of Metallica's albums. I'm now totally sick of Metallica cand can't listen to them anymore... well, not quite.

Movies:

I've seen far too many films to list them all! These are my favourites along wih the obvious ones: Terminator 2 (the other two were shit). Kill Bill. From Dusk till Dawn. PULP FICTION. South Park The Movie. Fight Club. Evolution. Sin City. The Matrix. Pan's Labyrinth. Borat. The Lord of the Rings. Star Wars. Donnie Darko. Police Story 1 + 2. Jackie Chan: The Young Master... more will be added when I remember them!
Michael Moore!

Television:

Before I give you the usual boring list of the programmes I like, I have something to say. Watching people crying and screaming because a woman who turned out to be someone's father ran off with her niece and had a baby who wasn't actually hers is not my idea of entertainment and the thought that some people would willingly watch it is astounding. (Yes I am referring to shitty soaps like Hollyoaks. They need to be cancelled immediately and the actors should all go back to their jobs at McDonalds)
Good programmes include: Lost, House, Fairly Odd Parents, Spongebob Squarepants, Red Dwarf, South Park, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Futurama, Friends, Big Brother, The League of Gentlemen.
Of course, right now the best show on TV is LOST! Wach it you fools!

Books:

The following books are superb and should be read by everyone. Aldous Huxley- Brave New World. Harper Lee- To Kill a Mockingbird. George Orwell-1984. Stephen Hawking- A Brief History of Time and, The Universe in a Nutshell. Michael Moore- Stupid White Men and, Dude Where's my Country? Douglass Adams- The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. John Wyndham- The Day of the Triffids.

My Blog

Bad Habit

I have a bad habit. I abuse the purpose of blogs! I forget that they're intended as accounts of your life but I don't use them as such. Instead I seem to use them to tell people that they don't know h...

HAHAHAHAHAHAhahahaha....... "subject"!

Continuous and indistinct, ineffable all of us; definition: nought but an expression of one's own foolishness (thus I brand myself a fool).Pain can either remind us we still have something to get out ...

What Comes To Mind.

Blog time, blog time! This is how all of my blog entries start off. I just start writing and see what happens. Looking back at my old ones I can see that I'm quite different from how I was in several ...

shut up

Oh-for-gods-sake. I tried to avoid this. I don't want to get anymore messages along the lines of "you were like that once" and "not everyone's like that". I know I generalised a bit but I thought ...

A response to Tom's response.

In response to your response: yes I have felt like my problems were huge and unknowable. but that was in the past and i'm aware of it now. i remember feeling like the universe hated me and that it had...

A MESSAGE TO THE MYSPACE GENERATION (that's you!)

Read carefully. Try not to be offended. Think. You all think your problems are so huge, so unknowable, you think you're so misunderstood, you think your pain is unique, you think no one else is g...

The hardest time to be nice is when you're right.

Great. Another rant coming about how I both hate my mind, but wouldn't want it any other way. Many years ago I made the decision that I would rather be right than happy. Actually it wasn't a conscious...

Ineffability

In Zen it is often said that (by analogy) the finger can point to the moon but it is not the moon; likewise words and actions can point towards what is ineffable but cannot make another know...

I think he's beginning to open up.

Hi, Joe here; the stereotypical unhappy philosopher.            As I've recently come to realise, deeper understanding brings no joy; quite the oppos...
