Born and raised in Barcelona Lydia Peters has been singing professionally for more than ten years. She left Barcelona very young, after three years of daily live shows in clubs and discoteques (Hits Box), especially gay-friendly clubs (La Diva, Metro), where live shows were more welcome than anywhere. That's how she became a gay icon in her hometown as much as she has become in Valencia as well , thanks to her non-stop eight year's performances in one of the most important gay spots of the country, restaurant Turangalila. But Lydia has also performed in many of the live acts presented in the most relevant discotheques of both cities . After endless nights of House improvisations and clubbing (and touring all over the country), Lydia turned her life and her voice into the music that inspired her throughout all her career: Jazz and Funk. By that time, she got herself into the media and started a career as a radio host and writer and Tv presenter.
She met pianist Miguel Ãngel Almonacid in 2004 when she had to produce and sing a Bossa-Nova gig for her radio show in Valencia. It was musical love at first sight. Since then, they have been playing togeher Jazz tunes and Soul classics. They starred a morning TV show and they still perform together every thursday night in "La Nit de Lydia" and, of course, wherever they are asked for.Currently Lydia Peters is also performing with guitar player and singer Mike McKoy (London) and she has started to play along with her quintet after having recorded their first demo as a jazz combo.Lydia Peters runs a radio show every night, La Nit de Lydia.(see also: www.myspace.com/lanitdelydia)
