About Me

Hi, everybody! I'm Waide. Being a Waide is very interesting, at least to me. I would describe it as somewhere in between a badly shaven gorilla and the Rear Admiral of Easter Island. Sprinkle that with a caricature of Edgar Allen Poe as a clown and you just about got it, if you add in the song "Carwash." However, I have also been described as one cool, hep-cat daddy-o with devil-may-care attitude and a long list of lovin' to do, fun and feisty, great with tarragon, and that guy giggling to himself in the corner. Can I help it if no one else got the joke?

My Interests

If you have not guessed being silly and monkeys by now, go back and review. There will be a pop quiz. Other than those, you can chalk up ghost stories, folklore, literature, art, turffles, wierdnesses of the world at large, writing, music (listening, not playing: no talent, too white), being black and strong, abnormal crime, history, finding inner peace then beating it about the head and neck with chaos, righting the wrongs of the Right with my mighty stuffed raccoon "Lucky," hiking, and nature shows. So, did I tell you I think monkeys are funny?

I'd like to meet:

Monkeys!!! Cute, fuzzy Monkeys!!! Homicidal, rampaging space Monkeys!!! Monkeys, monkeys everywhere!!!! I WANNA BE A MONKEY!!!!!!!!

Music:

What is in your ear right now? What are you listening to? What's on heavy rotation in your CD player, tape deck, reel-to-reel, iPod, or Hi-Fi? Who have you fallen in love with, who can't you get enough of? These are great questions, much better than "what's your favorite band?" People will give some stock answer when you ask them that, but you get a true glimpse into someone when you ask, "What's the last thing you listened to?" But what I am listening to right at this moment? If you want to know that, you need to ask me... Go on, ask me...

Movies:

I like all sorts of movies. Let's do this as a list. Remember, this is simply my opinion, and I probably don't even agree with myself.

    Television:

    Anything with a monkey.

    Books:

I am an incorrigible reader. I will read just about anything. I have been known, at times of boredom, to pick up the closest box, instruction manual, or wine bottle and entertain myself with reading the words over and over again. I love reading histories, collections of folklore, atlases, Shakespear, band websites, encyclopedias, the poetry of Mr. Edgar Allen Poe, comic books, Uncle John's Bathroom Reader, Faulkner, Wikipedia, Frost, John Stewart Mill, The National Geographic, Walter Ong, E.L. Doctorow, useless trivia, the correspondence of Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, ghost stories, The Declaration of Independence, and Bad News Hughes. This is just to name a few.

    Heroes:

Heroes? Everyone sucks and is magnificent in just about equal proportions.
