Sounds Like: MONO : EP Review by Mark Jones
"Uplifting, hook laden melodic rock"
These songs echo shades of the Arcade Fire and Snow Patrol but I think Mono’s uniqueness lies in their ability to combine songs that would sound great on just an acoustic guitar with instrumental flourishes on guitar, bass and drums and harmony lines that remind me of something REM are great at doing: ensuring that you kept wanting to listen again and again - not just to the song as a whole, but to the small moments that embellish the whole song: listen to "Fall on Me" and "Country Feedback" for examples of this.
I love his band: my admiration continues for Mono’s ability to pump new life into feelings and situations lyrically, matched with an exciting band creating music that hooks you in and keeps you coming back for more. here are musicians playing for the good of the song, the good of the music.
"The cracks on the pavement ask when will she come walking over me?" Beautiful.
