I'm a small town, country girl from MN, and am very close to my family. I have big dreams and a knawing in my soul...so despite the country girl part I somehow wound up in Center City Philadelphia. I graduated from St. Mary's Univ where I majored in Biology, and was involved in many organizations...everything from the geeky sounding Chemistry club to campus ministry and service groups. After college I decided I wasn't 100% sure what I wanted to do long term or how I wanted to use my passions for healthcare, the poor, and the Catholic church, SO after working with the Little Sisters of the Poor in New Mexico for the summer, I spent a year volunteering with Mercy Volunteer Corps at an AIDS hospice, which just happened to be in Philadelphia. It was an incredible, growing, learning, experience and, needless to say, I haven't left Philadelphia yet. I was working with the Little Sisters of the Poor here as a nursing assistant for the past year and a half and just left in June to start an accelerated nursing program.
