About 2 years later, she was persuaded (with a swimming pool and cookies!) to record a few original songs by her bass-playing father, and fellow worship team member in his tiny basement studio. Her first experience performing in a band came in 2000 with "Open Eyes", where she performed in Christian coffeehouses and churches until 2003. From 2003-2005 she fronted another band called "Strangers & Aliens" which played various clubs and coffeehouses in the NY-metro area (such as Paul Colby's The Bitter End, CBGB'S, and Crash Mansion). Liza began songwriting in 2005 and is currently writing/recording. While much of her material falls into the category of AAA rock, she's made numerous forays into the ballad area in the vein of The Pretenders and Sheryl Crow.Some of the more high profile places where Liza has performed:- National Anthem at Madison Square Garden four times (2004, 2005, 2006 Women's Colgate Games and one of basketball's Final Four games) - Finalist in the 2004 McDonald's GospelFest - Led worship at the NJ Statehouse - Auditioned for David Foster of the NBC show/competition Star Tomorrow David Foster: "You have a beautiful voice... promise me you'll keep doing this." - Nominated by the LA Music Awards for Christian Contemporary Singer-Songwriter of 2006"Some of my goals as a singer-songwriter? To create the best music that I possibly can; music that will point people to the Truth, and to bring the joy and hope of Jesus to everyone God sets in my path. I want to create songs filled with messages that cause believers as well as non-believers to think about where this generation is headed, and where they as individuals are headed."OCTOBER 12 '06 - NOMINATED FOR CHRISTIAN CONTEMPORARY FEMALE SINGER/SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR BY THE LA MUSIC AWARDSIn August 0f 2007 Liza was selected as the Grand Prize Winner by Artist Ovation (sponsored by Word Label Group) and performed at the Kingdom Bound Festival held in Darien Lake, NY. She then went on to perform in a showcase for Word Records in Nashville, TN mid-September.
