Music:

/David Gilmour; Eric Clapton (especially the older stuff); Tom Petty (especially the older stuff); pre-1990s U2; Del Amitri when they existed. I like guitars. Also Alan Parsons, Steely Dan, Al Stewart. Favourite new band in the past five years or so is (no guitars -- go figure); I've seen them twice -- they're brilliant! I like lots of other stuff, too. Sibelius, folk music, some blues, even barbershop quartet and occasionally ragtime. Jazz baffles me.

Movies:

"Casablanca", LOTR, Star Wars (esp. the original three), "His Girl Friday", "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie". Which Dragon resides in your soul? (cool pictures!)
You are a silver dragon. The rarest kind of dragon. YOu are noble yet avoid humans as much as possible. You are the guardian of the defensless and you rule the skies.

Television:

, "Doctor Who" (old and new), "Inspector Morse", sometimes "Charlie Rose". That's about it for t.v.

Books:

Mainly history stuff; I like Tolkien's fiction and C.S. Lewis's apologetics; poetry (Iain Crighton Smith, Angus Peter Campbell, Anna Akhmatova, T.S. Eliot); the Bible. I enjoy some novels but am a bit particular about them; the ones I keep rereading are "Wuthering Heights" and the "Hitchhiker's Guide" series.

Heroes:

My parents; Patty Duke and Margot Kidder. ***************************** **************************** Check out Stuart's group: and mine:

Two Chicago Stories

Here's something my father sent me. Since I never quite believe this sort of thing, I questioned his source, and apparently it checks out (see his note to me following the two stories). Two Chic...

Lessons from my dog

Lessons I have learned this morning from Stevie ("the Bad Dog"):    1) It is possible for a determined German Shepherd (Alsatian) to get into any trash recepticle no matter how tightly...

Wow haven't blogged in a while. This morning it's 11 below outside (Fahrenheit), with a windchill of 31 below. Big deal. We used to get this all the time when I was younger. Seems global warming ha...

Interesting evening, dead boring blog

This will not be of incredible interest to most people, but I'm blogging it anyway, because why not? I'm not sure very many people read these things anyway. Tonight was the trial run for our new attem...

Goals

Have been kind of bleh for a while (like, months), not because there's really anything wrong, but because I don't feel like I have anything to look forward to. Life just goes rolling along, same old, ...

Stevie

Today I was savagely attacked by a vicious German Shepherd. Well, okay, the dog in question is 8 weeks old and has toothpick teeth, so it's not really as big a deal as it sounds. But it makes for a go...

MySpace is an evil, evil thing! Instead of sleeping, like any sane work-at-home mother would be doing now, or trying to actually accomplish something, like this work-at-home mother should be doing, I'...

We were talking tonight at the store about age, and my husband was advised, if he can't remember my age (which for some bizarre reason he never can do), to "always guess low", the assumption being tha...
