One of the most consistently in demand DJs in Far North Queensland for the past several years, Dan Marshall has a knack for serving up quality music for discerning ears. Most DJ's make their trade mark a style of music, but not Dan. With training in audio engineering and experience in live bands backing up his ear for a tune and more importantly, the highest quality production, he selects techno, progressive, breaks, glitch and house tracks to formulate blistering, thundering sets that ignite the dance floor and connect with the people.
Technical wizardry and click track precise mixing are second nature, leaving this innovator free to explore the musical possibilities offered by cd djing, using decks and making full use of the any effects modules in the chain. He loops seamlessly on the fly, uses effects in subtle, inspired ways, adds vocals, acapellas and sound effects and uses his own productions to create sonic masterpieces.
From his first sets on the Silky Express, a weekly radio show from the boutique resort playground of Port Douglas, Dan quickly established a fan bass and started playing some bigger parties. Slinky, Global Underground and Ministry tours have used Dan as a support DJ over and over again in Cairns, there is still some debate among his more fanatical fans as to how many of them weren't anywhere near as good as Dan on the night.
Supporting (and in many cases, making firm friends with) the likes of BLIM, Tall Paul, Freq Nasty, Poxy Music, Hybrid, DJ Hyper, Groove Terminator, Phil K, Nubreed, Gab Olivier, Prince Quick Mix(PQM), Ferry Corsten, Phats and Small, Schpongle and a host of other luminaries in the electronic music field, Dan is no stranger to serving flawless warm-up sets that leave a crowd aching to lose it to a big name. His ability to both pull a crowd and warm a party up to fever pitch is faultless. When he headlines, everything goes up a few gears.
Responsible for the now legendary Deep North nights at the Bassment, Dan has already demonstrated he not only knows how to work a room, but how to fill one. Week in, week out, the Bassment became the go-to shack for people who didn't want the mass produced, bottle fed candy rave scene, they wanted something deeper, something darker, something different. Something with more edge and less shine. They got it. Deep North became an institution, a name you could trust for an awesome night of mind blowing music and top deck touring talent.
Ready now to take his music to the next level, Dan crosses the threshold and takes on the northern hemisphere with the freshest unreleased Australian 24 carat bombs and a box full of his own tunes which reflect his love of rock solid baselines and hooks you couldn't kill with a truck. His passion is percussion, his hobby, production, his job, leaving dance floor wondering what the hell just happened to them. If he's playing, go see him, if he's not, book him.
