For Ronnie Gene Dunn, born June 1 1953 and raised in Coleman, Texas (attended Port Isabel High School) & Tulsa, Oklahoma. He briefly attended Abilene Christian University 1974-76 (Abilene, Texas) with the intention of becoming a baptist minister. He moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. There, he fronted the house band at a popular night spot called Duke's Country. Later, he broke into the national spotlight by winning a talent contest sponsored by Marlboro. Music was built into his DNA. Born of a truck driving honky tonk singing father with a checkered past and a devout church-going mother determined to save him, he was steeped in both of life's extremes from the beginning. Ronnie, like most country singers before him, paid his dues by playing night club gigs (played bass) while attending collee.
Height: 6 ft. 4 in.
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Brown
Marital Status: Wife - Janine - married May 19th, 1989
Children - Whitney, Jesse, and Haley
While Brooks was carving out a name as a writer and also pursuing solo deals that were going nowhere, each had caught the attention of Arista Nashville founder Tim DuBois. The songwriter/producer had a feeling the pair would have chemistry -- and introduced them to one another in 1990. Both Ronnie & Kix wanted solo careers but they were able to let good business sense override their egos. For all their differences, there was enough common ground that their was a writing affinity. And the tension between Brooks' freewheeling performance style and Dunn's intense vocal performance created a tautness that would fire jukeboxes for the next 13 years, 4 Entertainer of the Year Awards and more. Dunn usually serves as the lead vocalist while Brooks plays guitar and works the stage.
In 1998, a duet with Reba McEntire ("If You See Him/If You See Her") reached No. 1, and they toured together extensively. The duo's 1999 album Tight Rope failed to yield a smash hit, but they returned in a big way with "Ain't Nothing 'Bout You" in 2001. The song spent six weeks at No. 1, and the follow-up "Only in America" became a rallying cry after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The duo also launched the hugely popular Neon Circus & Wild West Show tour, bringing along a variety of up-and-coming acts. Although they write most of their material, a 1996 remake of "My Maria" spent three weeks at No. 1. They also won the CMA entertainer of the year trophy that year. This Singer/Songwriter duo has produced 18 #1 Country hits, in just a few short years, plus winning so many major music awards (50+) that it would take a Pick-Up Truck to carry them all. On July 22, 2004, they celebrated sales of 25 million albums (The #2 duo of all time trailing only Simon & Garfunkle). They've won the most awards in ACM history!
Country’s most successful duo of all time is teaming up with Alan Jackson this year to co-headline a tour (sponsored this year by Tundra)that kicks off May 10th in Virginia Beach, VA.

U.S. Servicemen
"These folks put their butts on the line for the values this country believes in every day. They don't complain or make a deal out of serving this country. They just suit and do what's asked of them, expecting nothing. To me, people who can make a sacrifice like that are people we should be thanking as loudly and powerfully as we can." - Kix Brooks
