I am here for Friends

About Me

Who I Am:
* I am not defined by who you think I am, but by what I believe. Discovering this has made me so much more comfortable with myself, but has had the added effect of making me quite opinionated.
* I'm a single mom with a young son, who is my world.
* I'm madly in love with my soulmate Matt. He's the most amazing guy I have ever met, and, what can I say? I'm the luckiest woman alive to have him.
* I'm a high school graduate and currently a college student.
* I am currently an English major.
My Disclaimers:
* Just because I write poetry, does not mean I'm interested in reading yours. Please don't send me any. Thanks.
* Don't argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Also, don't argue with me. I will drag you down to my level and beat you with a baseball bat.
* Don't message me if you don't have something to say.
* Don't message me if you are male, and feeling perverted or in any other way inclined to send me messages that Matt would find offensive...as would I. I'm not interested. Don't kid yourself.
* I don't add random people. Please don't try. It's just annoying.
* If I haven't talked to you in two or three years, chances are, I am not going to accept your friend request. Just sayin'.
My Political and/or Social Beliefs:
* I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat.
* I am very strongly pro-life. I believe that abortion is proof of how deeply society has failed women.
* I am very strongly pro-military. My father is a soldier and was awarded the Purple Heart following his service in Iraq. A good many of my friends are military, and the majority of them are serving overseas if they have not already. If you want to talk about how horrible the war is, I'm going to direct you to talk to my ass. God bless our troops!
* I am a traditional feminist, meaning that while I recognize the differences between men and women, I do not think these should confer values of inferiority or superiority on either sex. I do not think men are better than woman and I also do not believe that women should be treated better than men to make up for past failures. I fully believe that women should be encouraged to fulfill themselves as women, which is different from the ways in which men reach fulfillment, and too often they are forced into a modern feminist box that believes equality can only be reached by proving there is no difference between men and women. There are differences. They do not make women weak, or men weak, only different. True equality has to be based on each sex fulfilling themselves and their purposes without being subjected to societal standards of conduct that attempt to discourage gender differences of any kind.
* I am a strong supporter of public schools.I believe it is important to maintain and improve our public school system. School choice is utter stupidity and will be the kiss of death to our public schools if we allow it to be. It's important to hold schools accountable, but to also provide them with the means to reach accountability standard--better funds, tighter administrations, and well-trained teachers.
* I am pro-capital punishment. Why should I spend the rest of my life paying for criminal scumbags to sit in a comfy jail cell while their victims and the families of their victims will never be able to enjoy even such simple security and pleasures the way they did before? Not only am I for the death penalty, but I think that it should be applied to cases involving rape and child molestation, and I think that the methods we use are entirely too humane for the bastards that prey on the vulnerable.
* I am all for civil unions for homosexual couples, because I think it's a stupid issue that takes attention away from real social problems that need to be addressed. Gay unions will not destroy the American family structure or social institution. Let it go, and let's start focusing on what really needs work. I do not, however, think that churches should be forced to recognize such unions, since that would be violating the right of religious bodies to determine their own doctrine, something I believe is firmly established in the idea of religious freedom.
* I believe that the majority of affirmative action is un-American, although I do believe that we should battle discrimination in every way possible.
* I believe cruelty to animals is wrong--even if you're an NFL superstar.
* I believe that too often the government tries to legislate things they have no business legislating.
* I think the majority of the youth of America, and the world in general, are complete idiots whose parents have failed them.
* I am a strong believer in the democratic process. If you are able to vote, and you don't vote, you don't have the right to complain.
* I believe that the government should be held accountable for its actions by an aware and well-educated public.
* If you believe any of the countless conspiracy theories surrounding 9/11, you are a total idiot. There is no arguing that fact.
* Chocolate is God's gift to mankind. Google is God's gift to inquiring minds. So feed me chocolate, and don't ask me stupid questions.
My Personality:
* I'm fairly laidback and easygoing.
* I enjoy talking to people, as long as they don't annoy me.
* I enjoy debating and will attempt to incite one wherever I can.
* If you do annoy me, I will not hesitate to let you know.
* I am upfront about what I believe and why.
* I am opinionated and argumentative. Don't try to change my mind. You won't succeed.
* Believe it or not, despite the fact that I am so opinionated, I am also a lot of fun.
* Just follow the rules, and we'll get along fine.
