Buxton was a rock band formed by Scott Chasse and Evan Orfanos in 1999 after the departure from their previous musical endeavors in the rock/funk outfit, Boiler Room Six. The two, attracted by the eclectic and wily guitar melodies of Brandon Ward, quickly hired Ward for second-guitar duties. They kept the bassist from their previous project, Tim Walsh, until he left Buxton to marry, move south, and begin a career as an honored fire-fighter. A temporary replacement four-stringer named Sean Scanlon - who also co-produced "The Music Box EP" - was taken aboard until the final bassist, Matt Jugenheimer, joined the band in 2002. Upon the addition of Jugenheimer, Buxton relocated to a rehearsal space in Allston, MA, which allowed the band to be firmly based in Boston for the remainder of its existence.
The last year-or-so of recording and performing involved the addition of Justin Pizzoferrato on third guitar, adding an excessive layer of distortion and melody unrivaled at the time in the Boston area. The band spent numerous hours in Rear Window Recording Studio in Brookline, MA, attempting to complete a full-length release. The album was never finished, but some of the tracks ended up on a limited edition EP titled "Laura W."
Today, in brief, Chasse and Orfanos are busy in the rock band, The Divorced , playing guitar and bass, respectively. Brandon Ward is currently completing a Master's degree at Bowdoin College. Tim Walsh is still fighting fires as far as we know. Matt Jugenheimer is playing mostly drums in the authentic indie outfit, Whistle Jacket . Sean Scanlon is co-managing an extremely prestigious Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Justin Pizzoferrato is an esteemed recording engineer based in Northampton, MA, and has worked with some pretty amazing acts, such as Dinosaur Jr.
