Music:
My favorite music has got to be Polka. I mean, what else IS there, really, but Polka?? When you break down all musical forms, from ancient Greek, Chinese, and African folk music, you find it all really emanates from Polka. There is an old Confucian saying, "From all music, to all music, within all music, there is...
POLKA!!!!"
Friends of Confucious were said to have been exhausted from 3-day long Polka parties in Shanghai, where Confucious was said to have meditated on the meaning of Polka and OOM-PA-PA as his personal mantra. But seriously, all Polka aside, my favorite musics are:
Old-school R&B, Funk (a la Parliament, Sly and the Family Stone, Graham Central Station, Ohio Players), and Soul, Reggae, Latin, Calypso, Pop, and Rock. I like all soulful music, and anything with a good groove. I am not a fan of (though I do respect) Hard rock/heavy metal/deathrock/glamrock/speed-death-metal-gloom-grungerock and spongerock.
Whatever that is.
Movies:
Comedy! I will like anything with or by Monty Python, Steve Martin, Robin Williams, Martin Short, Eugene Levy, Harry Shearer, Christoher Guest, or Fred Willard, to name a few...
Also love Kung Fu movies, from the old ones that no one has ever heard of to Jackie Chan and Jet Li. They're SIMPLE and easy to for me to understand...
:-)
Also I like documentaries and drama...
And Blue Collar Comedy with Ron White, Jeff Foxworthy, et. al.
Television:
Arrested Developement was the greatest show ever. In my humble opinion.
But since it was taken off the air, then so be it. Thanks FOX!
I also really like:
Family Guy, Seinfeld, The Simpsons, The Office, the O'Reilly Factor, and This Week with George Stephanopoulos.
Books:
I must admit I am not a big reader, but the 4 books on my table that I am trying to get through are:
"My Life" by Bill Clinton
"100 People who are Screwing up America" by Bernard Goldberg
"They Just Don't Get It" by Colonel David Hunt
and
"The Wines and Travels of Thomas Jefferson" by James M. Gabler
Heroes:
All the signers of the Declaration of Independence, The Wounded Warriors Project, Mahatma Ghandi, John F Kennedy, all who perished on 9-11, Toby Keith (just kidding, that was like an intermezzo), my Dad Freddie Mitchell (RIP), my ex Holly , John Cleese, Kevin Zraly, Justin Myers, Randy Lewis, Billy Cobham, The Wounded Warrior Project, Dave Weckl, everybody who is selfless, everybody who cares about others, and oh lord this list could just go on forever!!!
