Jenna Varndell is new and upcoming talent from Birmingham. The singer/ songwriter was born in 1985 and grew up in Handsworth. Her family background is very mixed being part Spanish, Jewish, Russian and half Welsh. Growing up Jenna was introduced to a wide variety of music from Classical, Pop and Soul to Rap, Rock, Reggae/ Sca, and Garage.Jenna accompanies herself on the piano and also plays cello, recorder and clarinet. From the age of nine, she started writing songs and found comfort with the idea of singing all her problems away. Jenna became more interested in music and found a passion for Jazz, Blue’s, Soul and Motown classics. Over the years she has developed her song writing into powerful reminders of her life and has written around 200 original songs!“It’s almost like having a diary of emotions, each one being original and personalâ€.At school Jenna was shy about singing but joined the advanced choir and aged eleven was given the opportunity to sing for the ‘Jools Holland’ Christmas choir at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, for musicians such as 'GARY BARLOW', 'KATRINA AND THE WAVES' and 'MICHAEL BALL'. Jenna took a year out from the music scene after leaving school due to her unexpected pregnancy and in November 2001 became a mother to her beautiful daughter, Isabella!During 2002, after a break from music and a difficult year, Jenna felt inspired and started writing songs again.“I realised how much I missed singing and being creative and finally decided a music career was what I was destined for.â€In 2003 she joined up with I.G.S.C (International Guild of Songwriters and Composer’s) and also auditioned for the first series of SIMON COWEL'S X FACTOR in the summer of 2004 as part of two piece girl group ‘Urban Jazz!'"Programs like X Factor work for some people but one look at their terms and conditions & the amount of control they have over you... in all aspects and I decided it wasn’t for me! (even though they did like us!) I spent a lot of time after that, soul searching & trying to decide what kind of an artist i wanted to be. I researched the business side of the music industry and decided allthough i could sing, i was more of a songwriter and that too much focus was about the packaging of the music and due credibility was not given to real artists and musicians most of the time. I prefer more low key artists like JILL SCOTT, INDIA ARIE and BILAL etc where its less about 'Celebrity' and more about the art of music"Jenna describes her musical style as a unique blend of HIP HOP and R&B SOUL with FUNK, JAZZ and BLUES influences. Having just finished studying as a vocal artist at ATM Studio's in Birmingham, Jenna passed The 2year ROCKSCHOOL DIPLOMA with 9 units all graded with DISTINCTIONS! Jenna has since been offered a 2year POPULAR MUSIC FOUNDATION DEGREE at THE ACADAMY OF NEW MUSIC in LONDON! Continuing to work with live bands and performing original material all around Birmingham, Jenna has played most of the venues such as ‘THE CUSTARD FACTORY', all over ‘BROAD STREET’ 'CHINA TOWN' and prestigious venues such as 'JOOLS HOLLAND'S' club 'THE JAM HOUSE' to name a few, and has since developed a collective repertoire, with many more exciting projects coming up. More recent shows have included supporting LYRICAL HEALER at 'PLAN B' in HACKNEY, LONDON and her open mic nights 'INSPIRE'. Other highlights this year have included supporting BASEMENT JAXX, singing for MISS DYNAMITE and also DES O CONNOR and his family at a birthday party. Now venturing to other parts of the UK too, Jenna Varndell is definately a name to be looking out for!“What does the future hold for me?... Well..In the near future I hope to submit songs for publishing... make money... Get out of the ghetto and at least see where the singing takes me! Lol! I'm currently working with some of the hottest and yet to be discovered producers in my hometown Brum, travelling back and fourth to London, organising workshops, organising more shows/ open mic nights as well as my latest projects, showcasing local unsigned talent and organising a road show aimed to showcase Birmingham’s finest talent, coming soon!

But observe what I can achieve,...
Don’t judge my past,...
But consider my possibilities,...
Don’t put me down,...
As a result of your insecurity,...
Don’t try to cease my dreams,...
Because of your jealousy,
