Aamasade
With over 10 years of experience and training in performing and tutoring. She has had training in Capoera, Kazimba Yoga. Completed healing retreats; Vision Quest, Vapassna, Ancestral Gathering and Healing Ancestral Wounds. These skills enable Aamasade to be creative, energetic and connect at the level of her participants be they children, adults or elderly. Her emphasis is on participation and shapes individual artistic expression using voice, instruments and improvisation as tools to externalise experience.
PERFORMANCE
Over 17 years of live performance as a poet, lead and backing vocalist and musician
with various reggae, calypso, poetry and acoustic groups and bands around England
and Europe.
International and National Appearances: national England; Lillie France; Belgium;
Barcelona Spain; Kingston and Montego Bay Jamaica; Soweto and Johannesburg South
Africa.
Festivals: Womad; Glastonbury; Strawberry; Bracknel; Children's percussion workshop
at Notting Hill Carnival in Meanwhile Gardens. August 94, 95 and
96.
Managed and organised three percussion/performance groups for Womad World Music
Festival. 25 - 27th July95 - D for Drum, July96 - Drum Spirit
and July 97 - Umoja Beat. Performed solo July 2000 2001.
Umoja Beat Nov 97 - Literacy Festival, Reading Town Hall in conjunction
with Do The Right Thing.
Worked with poetry/percussion/workshop/performance group Poppyseed from96
to present date. Women's prison. Kent. Performance/Workshop. 7 March 97.

ANCESTRAL GATHERING - Although many of us hear the
call of Nature, there is few places we can go and experience this within our
own community. Ancestral Gathering creates a healing space for African in the
Diaspora who hear the call of nature.
TRANSFORMATION RELATIONSHIPS - Transformation is a space
where we recognize, acknowledge and harness the spiral of change; how change
affects us and how we can direct our change to produce the outcomes we require
in our lives.
DRUM SPRIRIT - aids expression, rhythm development and meditation
through the medium of percussive drum, movement and voice.
HEAD WRAPPING - a fun session enabling men and women to wrap
their crowns with majestic elegance.
