About Me

Welcome to the MySpace for the Creative Pulse! Thank you for your interest in our paper and for taking the time to visit our MySpace.
The Creative Pulse is a monthly publication offered freely to the public. In publication for nearly two years, the Pulse is the leading periodical in coverage of local arts and entertainment stories, in addition to a healthy dose of global art coverage.
Within the pages of the Creative Pulse, readers are introduced every month to new and exciting artists, musicians and happennings that they might not have otherwise been introduced to. Thanks to it's readers and the hand of the Lord, the Creative Pulse has continued to grow and even influence the behaviour of local corporate papers.
However, the crown jewel of the Pulse is it's monthly Art Gallery, where readers are encouraged to submit samples of their own work, be it photography, verse, sculpture, or any other expression that can be classified as 'art'. The Creative Pulse offers aspiring artists their own forum for expression; something not offered else where.
The Creative Pulse is available in Abilene, San Angelo, Brownwood, Wichita Falls, Winters, Clyde, Sweetwater, Haskell, Stamford, and even Iraq, Germany and Afghanistan, where the troops are allowed a means to stay connected to their home land while they protect our freedom.
The Creative Pulse includes:
SIMONE SAYS - A new monthly installment that chronicles unexpected acts of kindness and amazing stories of inspiration- almost all local! By Simone Simpson
REVERB - A monthly piece by one of Abilene's leading musical groups, Jamison Priest. An inside, first hand look at what it is to be in an independant music group.
WHERE'S THE BEEF? - A group of locals, calling themselves the Burgermeisters, are on the quest to find the perfect hamburger. Every month they report their findings...
BULLET TAKERS - A rotating group of brave if naive young (some what) men who all watch esoteric films of B-Grade, foreign, or otherwise poor quality - then review it! All so you won't have to watch it!
LOAD - A comic strip by Californian artist, Sam Saturday. A subversive, counter culture strip tackling such thorny topics as sex, relationships, and communication.
THE FINE PRINT - Local bookstore owner Kathryn LeMayl recommends two books ecah month. Careful - they tend to be a bit more intellectually challenging than Oprah's fare.
SUPPORT THE ABILENE FREE PRESS- THE ONLY REAL VOICE OF THE PEOPLE!

My Interests

Art is the exercise of creation, a time God has ordained for us to commune with him through the beauty of creation. We are eager to met anyone who finds themselves creators, be it of verse, sculptures, photos, music...anything that makes life more bearable for both creator and audience.
