What I've done since high school ----
I’ve spent 9 years in Missouri, 7 years in college, 7 years at Springfield Business Journal, 5 years at Starbucks, 1 month in Puerto Rico (que viva!!!!), 2 weeks in Korea, 2 weeks training it across the U.S., and 2 different weeks in Mexico.
I’ve climbed ancient Mayan pyramids in Mexico and up the side of mountain to a traditional Buddhist temple in Korea. I’ve been in 27 of the 50 states. I’ve seen Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, the Colorado Rockies, Mount Rainer, Sedona, and the sunset on the Pacific Ocean.
I’ve tried skiing, ice skating, boogie boarding, snorkeling, boating, cannoning, scuba diving, camping, paragliding, strip clubs, fishing, and [most resently] roller derby.
I’ve been in 4 serious relationships and married once. I’ve learned to love cooking, science, history, woman, beer (!!), sushi, traveling, Uno, meat & cheese, dogs, my hair blonde, heels, silence, electricity, strapless bras, dresses, and fire pits. I’ve learned to pitch a tent, skip rocks, do cartwheels, use a computer, do Pilates, forgive my parents, lift free weights, listen, do yoga, drive a stick, get rid of hiccups, run for fun, and graciously accept compliments.
I’ve had a breast reduction, road rage, a serious genetic disease death scare, glasses, and a tattoo. I’ve went from size 8 to 20 more than once, changed my hair color to red, blonde, black, brown, a combo of all/some, and then back again.
I’ve helped make 4 new American citizens. I’ve danced traditional Spanish, Mexican, Columbian and Brazilian music on stage many times and have been in a movie [See movie trailers on this page]. I’ve learned to know and love myself and most importantly, I’ve found my passion and the love of my life. It’s been an eventful 18 years!
I’m just your average salsa-dancing, physics-reading, girl dating fool! I actually consider myself an outgoing nerd. Or perhaps a Renaissance chick as I’m interested in nearly everything, and don’t mind picking up a book to explore my questions. I’m blessed with a horrible memory which allows me to pick up said books sometimes 3 and 4 times before I actually remember the facts I have read in them! Luckily, I’m a history major. (Surely they give you the reading material you will teach before the class…?)
Words that I live by: “The only thing you can control in this life is yourself†(by: Moi) and “You must be the change you want to see in the world†(by: Gandhi). Both of these mottos remind me that kindness is the most important trait one can have…..
Recently married to my wonderful wife!
