Since January of 2005, the track Syzygy has been getting airplay on Clear Channels 94.5 The Buzz in Houston. Dj Zakk United has contacted Jeremy to make him aware that Syzygy received the best response ever on Zakks weekly show, The Texas Buzz. He said he receives tons of emails and calls when the song is played. As a result, Deus Machina was the featured artist on The Texas Buzz for the week of Nov. 20th. Just recently the band was nominated for Best Industrial/Progressive Band by The Buzz. This was important, because it was essential to write good enough songs that reflected Jeremys state of mind and at the same time translated to the general public.
Deus Machina began with Jeremy Lee being completely ignorant and naive of the songwriting process and the amount of effort it takes to write a well written and produced song. He had no comprehension of what a synthesizer could do, what a sequencer was, how to record anything, or how to sing or write. He then fearlessly sat down and began working to try and write the best songs possible that could translate to specific fanbases and radio listeners alike. Slowly he began experimenting with sounds and techniques hoping to piece together ideas into songs focusing every night on learning how to write and produce. After tons of research, experimentation, rewrites, and practice, Jeremy had learned to utilize the tools and instruments in the studio to create the energy he had been working for.
Then, after completing numerous songs on his own, Jeremy brought in a guitarist and a drummer to help speed the process up. This worked well and helped better utilize his time and expand his abilities. After he had enough material to play live, he decided to put together a live band.
The live band is made up of Jeremy Lee, Nathan Lee, Christian Brown and Abi Putra.
The band has worked very hard to take complex, layered songs and reconstruct them in the live atmosphere. Their success in this effort and their ability to transfer that energy live has helped solidify Jeremy and the band members confidence in the future of Deus Machina.
