About Me
Son Siu and Baby J first met up in 1999 at the "Polyneisian's Most Wanted" concert in Salt Lake City. They were both there performing with their groups.Baby J was from "Unload" and later with "Small Axe".Son Siu was from "Big Tsunami".Two years later they bumped into each other at a Vegas nightclub called "The Hop".At this time Son Siu just decided to start work on his first solo album entitled"Shake the Earth" with producer Killa Cal out of Los Angelos.Baby J was still doing music,so everything just fell into place.
During the making of the "Shake the Earth" project "Big Family" was born.A group of mostly polynesian artist' and supporters all in the Vegas valley that helped contribute to the album. After the completion of the album they toured through Utah and to the bay area of northern California, but most of there "buzz" was created right in sin city. For the next four years they performed and gathered a following at most of the Las Vegas venues and festivals all over the city.Every performance led to another show. Someone always wanted to book them for an upcomig event.
The Big Family sound ranged from hardcore street,to R and B,Reggae, and Island flavor, and because there were so many different personalities, they had a show put together for any kind of event(everything from boys and girls clubs ,YMCA's,charity events,Island festivals' casino's to hip hop and underground clubs). They are probably one of the only groups in Vegas that can get away with it.But being that there was so many of them, it was hard to actually put together a Big Family album with everyone's different schedules. So they did the next best thing and split everyone into groups or solo projects by categories of music.
The "Fierce 1z" project was the rappers of Big Family which consisted of Son Siu ,Baby J, and Don Kong(also from Big Tsunami). From 2003 to 2004 they had enough material for at least three albums. But, they also had a bad habit of starting new songs without completing the ones they did before (as far as mixing down and mastering). You can say their creative juices were out of control.....lol....Then the computer crashes.....files gone. (yeah being the smart guys that they are, they did'nt back up any of the files except for a few.)So the songs you hear on this website are the survivors of the "Fierce 1z" project.
In 2005 Baby J drops two albums at the same time.A rap album entitled ""Alcoholic Confessions" under the name "Baby J" and a reggae album entitled "From A Broken Axe" under the name "Madd Axe".These albums sell out on the streets like hot cakes and create a whole new motivation for the group.
In 2006 producer Killa Cal started his project "Musiq Macabe".Son Siu started work on his sophmore solo album. Baby J started shooting a video for his first single "Becky Run And Hide".Don Kong is in the works of starting his solo debut, and many more artist' to come from the Big Family camp.
In mid July of 2006 after a long night of drinking on the side of Son Siu's house "where decisions are made". They decided to start a new project with just the two of them, Son Siu and Baby J. It's supposed to be a 5 song project. So this website is the first step in the making. New material is coming.
BE READY.......It is not a secret that our everyday vocab consists of sloganz. It is also not a secret that many, if not most of these sloganz are racial. When it comes to the majority of these sloganz we cannot take the credit for the creation of them, but when it comes to the continuance of these sloganz we can share the blame. The streets we call society thrives off the notion that we are capable of tearing eachother down, taking the weapon from our enemies hands and doing the job ourselves. We are not on here pointing fingers, self reflection is up to you. What we are doing is putting it in your face, where most things go unnoticed. So here it is, a dedication to those that we have lost to this war amongst brothers, also those that have been deported overseas leaving thier families behind. Honestly the difference between Tongans and Samoans is........Our Location. Of 1 mind, heart and soul we can put a stop to furthering the persecution of ourselves. When racial words are released from our mouths, the only place it stops is in the ears of our children. This is a Sonsiu, Baby"J, and Kid picture of our reality, decorated with the voice and sounds of Bob Marley. We are not perfect in this struggle, but like others we are the beginning to change. 1 of us is Samoan and 1 of us is Tongan and if you dont know which is which then frankly we dont give a damn, because in our location a brother is a brother, SAMOAN OR TONGAN!
