First things first. I started played piano at about age 6 and I started singing at about age 8. Even as a young girl I was passionate about music and whenever I saw concerts or shows I was inspired to create songs of my own. All through childhood and those terrible teenage years, my love for making music remained and I started singing in church, in theaters, weddings, etc.. My first full-time music position was at a church in San Antonio, TX. That was in 2001 and since then I have been a full-time musician for the most part. I have entered various song-writing competitions (GMA in the Rockies) and I have loved the experiences and I've met some great musician friends in the process! I play my songs as a way to bring hope and encouragement to others, but I also look for opportunities to grow and improve as an artist. In the last few years, I have had some wonderful opportunities to open for some really great musicians like Nichole Nordeman, Caedmon's Call and Chris Taylor. Currently I am a worship leader for a church plant in Longmont, CO called White Fields. I also lead worship for women's conferences and play concerts in local churches, coffee houses and anywhere I get the chance.
I strive to be a real person for real people. My heroes are Jesus and then Rich Mullins. I loved Rich because he was not afraid to be messy. I want to be challenged and to challenge others to be all that God created us to be but to know that its o.k to be in the process. He is the great artist, and creator and wants us to join in with what He is doing. We are all on this journey together and each of us are a part of His great masterpiece!
I have a real heart for India. I have travelled there twice and currently I am involved with the Dalit Freedom Network (DFN) in Denver, CO. Through music I want to be a voice for the dalit people (also called the untouchables or the outcaste) but I also hope to educate, and encourage young people to be advocates for the dalit people (for more information about DFN check out www.dalitnetwork.org).
Last but not least, I recently married a wonderful man named Matt Henderson and we are living happily in the front range of Colorado.
