Ghetto Youth Entertainment is an independant record label based in a Federal Jail in Latin America, to be more precise... in Panama.
The Project started back in 2004, when one of the 2 members of The A.G. was imprisoned for an 8 year bid for running an international drug trafficking network.
It is the FIRST of its kind to EVER exist throughout the third world countries in latin america. The jail is located in the middle of a Jungle in the Gamboa national reserve.
The company and the professional recording studio built withing the gates and snipers of the Federal premises, has made history within the penetenciary systems. They created a rehabilitation program through the music, so the inmates can artisticly express their day to day drama and re integrate society with a developed art form of expression. The Ghetto Youth mission went even further, as it also teached the young outcasts a detailed notion on the music buisness industry and gave them dirrect acces to important contacts in order to network with the outside from within the belly of the beast.
It started off in 2005 when they, The Ghetto Youths, built the first library in the penetenciary system in Panama which eventually later on led to the creation of the Studio and the Registration of the company. This bringing mass media attention and gathering the most important names in the history of the Reggae and Hip Hop in Panama to come record, perform (on National TV) and ultimatly after Anonymo's Extradition out of Panama, To honor him with a event in Homage to his hard work and his unbelievable achievement. Without forgetting to mention receiving the most prestigious respect known to the ghettos and the artistic industry in Panama. 'El Massimo Respeto al Privado de Libertad'
*For those who dont know; REGGAETON as it is know today was born in the city of PANAMA. It was there way before it ever got to Puerto Rico, it was simply called Latin Reggae at the time, until the Boricuas decided to take it as their own, a gesture with a strong similitude to what the americans did with the Canal of Panama.*The Ghetto Youths have recorded over 5 videos behind bars and have done a arround 10 shows from withing the gates broadcasted on national TV with several international guests to feature. Notabily Ruben Blades the current Tourism minister of Panama and former member of the Salsa super group la Fania, also the first lady of the Panamanien President who congradulated Anonymo personally for this project, along with artists such as El Rookie, Kafu Banton, Mr. Fox, Danger-man (RIP), Demphra & La Factoria, Mach & Daddy, Toby King, Rasta Jam and several more.
But their most anticipated project is still on the works...it is a Hip Hop Documentary, titled 'El Documental Federal', to be released within the next couple of months, capturing from A to Z the exclusif never before seen footage of the federal belly of the beast and explains the detailed development of their achievement in such a great project.
With the hip hop scene in latin america growing out of proportion due to the fact that these cultures are actually living every word they preach , not like your comon 50 cent northen pop star. The Ghetto Youth Juggenaults have taken a solid grip on the south american hip hop and have already started to shred it apart with a couple of mixtapes and online leaks.
Anonymo was recently released on February 2nd from his Federal term and they're already on the works of delivering somthing never before seen or heard of from Latin American Roots.
