About Me

Here we go, 4th year of medical school part 2: goals include choosing, applying and matching at a fabulous residency program (exact field to be determined), learning Spanish, exploring central America, being able to do at least 1 unassisted pull up and hit a 5.10, climbing Katahdin, LOTS of foolishness, perfecting my mohito recipe, re-aquainting with the idea of supertrue love... going with the tide as it moves me.www.samatathia.blogspot.com

My Interests

medicine, global health, hiking/backpacking, rock climbing, traveling, day tripping, team brunches, fiction, writing, balancing sarcasm and idealism, stories that start with "apparently," heart to hearts, drunk or sober, being overly competitive at scrabble, taboo and other seemingly "just for fun" games.

I'd like to meet:

fun, laidback, openminded people who like to travel and get the most out of the every day.

Music:

Bruce Springsteen, U2, Counting Crows, David Gray, Dixie Chicks, Bob Dylan, Guster, Dispatch, Tryptophan, Postal Service, Jason Myles Goss, Kelly Clarkson. recently beginning to appreciate hiphop... Air Supply is a great band. Bryan Adams is timeless. Every now and then I need a Burren fix.

Movies:

Good Will Hunting (i dare you to a quote off), Gone with the Wind, Beaches, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Casablanca, Annie Hall, The Hustler, Ten Things I Hate about You, X Men.

Television:

Gilmore Girls, Grey's Anatomy, Entourage, Freaks and Geeks, Queer as Folk, Firefly, Sex and the City, Cosby Show, 90210 (the HS yrs), Dawson's Creek. And no, I'm not ashamed of my low brow tv choices.

Books:

The Ground Beneath her Feet, For Whom the Bell Tolls, The English Patient, Sweet Thursday, Harry Potter, Letters to a Young Poet, Einstein's Dreams, Unbearable Lightness of Being, Lolita, Wuthering Heights, Song of Solomon.

Heroes:

My mom for her self-sufficiency. My dad for his uncompromising ideals. My teammmates for their ridiculous self-awareness and acceptance. Paul Farmer. Bono. Lorelai Gilmore for her fashion sense.

My Blog

You who never arrived

You who never arrived in my arms, Beloved, who were lost from the start, I don't even know what songs would please you. I have given up trying to recognize you in the surging wave of the next moment. ...
