Tale of The Purple Lady
The Purple Lady is derived from two Biblical stories. The first is the story of Dorcas in the Book of Acts. Dorcas was a seamstress, who was strong in her faith and always “doing good and helping the poorâ€. Upon her death, the mourners of her community called for Peter and showed him the robes and clothing Dorcas had created while alive. Peter prayed and the Lord brought Dorcas to life, to continue her good work.
The second story, also from the Book of Acts, tells of Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to Paul’s message and she and the members of her household were baptized.
The Purple Lady of today is a strong and modern woman, yet she remains true to traditional values. She handles the affairs of her household while also using her skills and talents to create dreams for others. She is full of compassion and always seeks the best in people. Her imagination and creativity combine with her skills to create works of art from fabric and thread.
