About Me

Myspace Layouts
Myspace Codes
Myspace Generators
Myspace BackgroundsI'm a former worker bee in corporate America trying desperately to get into veterinary school. I'm a pretty big geek, but that's ok because I live in Silicon Valley!

My Interests

Snowboarding, running, and of course working with animals.

I'd like to meet:

Ok, at this point I'd settle for meeting anyone famous or even semi-famous, although John Cusack would be a nice start! Oh, and Alton Brown's assistant Paul on Good Eats.

Music:

Anything except country and top 20 pop because it's overplayed. Favorites include She Wants Revenge, Depeche Mode, Stan Ridgway, The The, Morrissey, REM and the B-52's.

Movies:

Strange Brew, Better Off Dead, Spaceballs, Blazing Saddles, Airplane!, Austin Powers, The Matrix, Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, Strictly Ballroom, Moulin Rouge, Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 and Viva Las Vegas

Television:

My Name is Earl, Reno 911!, Flavor of Love (thanks for getting me hooked, Dear!), Good Eats, Deadliest Catch, The Critical Hour, Ice Road Truckers and any of the Animal Cops shows

Books:

Kitchen Confidential by Tony Bourdain, Fear Nothing by Dean Koontz, Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, His Dark Materials Trilogy by Phillip Pullman and Life of Pi by Yann Martel

Heroes:

Um, anyone that has the balls to actually do tricks in a superpipe instead of riding up and down the walls lamely as I do.

Ok so far

All the medical tests so far have come back with normal results.  My theory is that I was down on electrolytes and that made me feel funny - since it only happens after exercise, on hot days, tha...

Jaguar exam; Arrhythmia?

Yesterday I got an awesome surprise while doing my regular volunteer stint at the zoo.  The jaguar was tranquilized and underwent a physical exam, including x-rays (or radiographs for you medical...

Is it fall yet?

Seems like I'm waiting around for fall, for a bunch of reasons: 1.  I can finish my damn vet school application, submit it, and not think about it for a while until interviews start (yeah right, ...

Zookeeping

Some of you may have heard that I recently started volunteering at a local zoo as a zookeeper assistant.  Let me tell ya, it isn't like how you imagined when you were a little kid.  I didn't...

New kid

So we've had the new kitty for about a month now - her name is Chance, but we've taken to calling her Chancie-Mop because, well, she sorta looks like a dust mop.  Here's a photo of her rolling ar...

Losses and Gains

Euthanasia sucks, especially when the animal is purring and/or licking you while it is dying, especially when it could be curled up napping in someone's home instead.  I don't usually get that up...

Next Year

Hard to belive that in about a month the next vet school application cycle starts.  At this point I've sent GRE scores to UC Davis (of course), Colorado State, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, and ...

Rejected

Yes folks, got the big rejection letter today and I am pissed.  Next year I am applying to more than one school, that's for sure.  Here are my stats: GRE: 780 quant, 740 verbal, 4.0 writing...

Update on Turner

You may or may not know that my oldest cat Turner had surgery Friday to repair his cruciate ligament, which he tore while wrestling with my other cat Billy.  I'm happy to say that he is already w...
