About Me

Bert Fuzz is a dance music producer, working with various artists on house tracks. His musical influences are wide and eclectic, ranging from the grooves of his childhood – James Brown, The Meters, Isaac Hayes- through to punk rock – Sex Pistols, Sham 69 – and ska bands like The Specials and The Beat. Artists he listens to include Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop, Eliza Carthy, Athlete and his current favourite house producers are Kerri Chandler and Masters at Work.Bert Fuzz started out back in 1989 with a funk band called The Explosions, playing on the London warehouse and club circuit. They had a hit in the dance charts called “Shuffle bump” which has been sampled by a lot of big beat producers over the years. He was one of the founder members of the underground sound system known as Spiral Tribe, who were infamous for putting on free underground warehouse parties, raves and festivals all over Britain and Europe. The Spiral Tribe outfit produced tracks such as “DF118 (ragga boom)” and “Breach of the Peace” on which Bert Fuzz, under the alias of MC Scallywag, laid down his unique vocal style. As their MC, he played many sets with DJs such Aztec, Charlie Hall, Karl K, Meltdown, Ixy and Manic Josh at festivals such as Torpedo Town, Lechlade, Castle Morton and Bodmin Moor to name but a few. During this time, he started recording with Xenophobia, who then signed to Kickin’ Records and recorded the hit singles “The Wobbler” and “Rush in the House” with the hook line ‘Ecstasy, it really gets me going, it gets me so I don’t know what I’m doing’. He was the front man for Rave Outfit NRG, with the hit track “I need your lovin”, which played America and the European club circuit alongside The Prodigy and The Rat Pack. He did a three-month stint in Australia MCing for the Homegrown DJs and has since worked with Mike Cogland to produce “You can’t stop” on Multiply Records and John Truelove’s label Ket Tex, doing vocals for a track called “Inner City Junkie”.In his lifetime he has shared a squat with Seal, been in TV commercials, made no less than 5 beautiful children and his face regularly crops up on many a corporate billboard and website.
