Besides an extensive career in the music business in the 90s, Joe Ng was also a prominent key player in Singapore's independent music scene. Aside from promoting alternative rock shows and producing bands, he is best known as the singer-songwriter from the seminal rock outfit, the Padres.
Although Ngs initial involvement with local cinema saw him dabbling in acting, he soon found his niche in producing and composing music for film and television, including award winning film, Eating Air (1999) and box-office horror hit, The Maid (2005). In 2004, Joe Ng received an Asian Television Award nomination for Best Original Music Score for his work on The Frontline (2003). His other works include hit TV series Durian King (2004) and Six Weeks (2004).
Last year he worked again with long time collaborator Alex Oh on Kelvin Tong's art-house flick Love Story (2006). Tong went on to win the Best Director prize at the 2006 Singapore International Film Festival. Ng's latest work is Do Not Disturb, an eight episode TV series on Arts Central.
He is also a member of Localbarboy, a band that does only cover versions of Singapore songs.FILMOGRAPHY
