Getting piss drunk and riding mechanical bulls.
I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not. Took me a while to realize that. Classic case of a boy raised without a father. A blessing and a curse. It may have taken me longer to find them but my ideals are my own. I'm a devoted friend, son, brother, and lover. If you get between me and mine you'll have to face what's coming.
I get a lot of people that ask about my tattoo. Don't be cliche. I didn't get it for fashion. For the record it says "Sisyphus" not "Siphylus". Don't get it twisted. So here's the abbreviated version of the story:
There's a greek myth about a great king named Sisyphus. He's sent to Hades (the Greek underworld) for betraying the gods and once there he's presented with a boulder and a mountain. He's told that if he can push the boulder to the peak of the mountain he'll be freed from Hades' grasp and can go on to live happily ever after. So he starts pushing and after months of struggling he's finally within view of the peak. He begins to daydream about seeing his wife and children again and it's in this moment, this lapse of concentration, that he slips and falls down, only to watch the boulder and months of hard work go rolling back past him all the way to the bottom of the mountain. Feeling utterly defeated he looks over his choices. He can give in to the will of the gods and admit defeat or he can pick himself back up and get started down the mountain to try again. He chooses the latter. And so repeats the story of Sisyphus over and over for the rest of eternity. The end.
It sounds like a horrible story to relate to at first. I equate my life to pushing a boulder that never makes it to where I'm striving to go. There always seems to be a hitch. I'm always starting over. But the real power to the story is in Sisyphus' drive and passion to live free. Even after an eternity of meaningless labor he never gives up. And neither will I.
I'm always looking for new friends, fresh faces, and original ideas.
