As the boom in by-the-book Indie bands expands and the extreme of genre-crossing groups takes the limelight through shock factor, Welcome The Tourist enthuse that you don’t need gimmicks to make bestsellers, nor do you need to stick to tried and tested methods.
Combining apparent influences from Minus The Bear to Motion City Soundtrack, Hot Water Music to Genesis and adding a distinct passion for 80’s pop music, the four-piece are clear masters of their instruments.
Alan Hiom was introduced to Dan Reynolds at Norwich City College where they both studied. Discovering that Dan played drums, Alan acquired his talents early on and on Dan's return from University attained his skills once more in further bands. Alan & Dan gained notable success in previous band saleontomorrow, playing alongside some impressive names such as My Awesome Compilation, Itch and Owen.
Hiom & Reynolds became aware of bassist Stitch Richardson when saleontomorrow shared a tour with his previous band Brailing. When the opportunity arose for the new outfit that would later become Welcome The Tourist, Stitch was asked to have a practice and as the saying goes, the rest is history.
WTT gigged as a three piece for a short time before bringing in the synthesizing services of Tom Booen. Tom (better known for his talents on the guitar) brought in an extra dimension to the band and along with the signature cowbell, completed the ensemble.
The result? One of the most impressive newcomers from the East who bring a new depth to their music and one of the most consistent live performances you will bare witness to.
