Underground, Overground... who gives a f**k?

About Me

Yes yes, welcome to my page! I been doing this whole DJ thing since 2003. I started out as a Bboy (Breakdancer), where at a late stage in life I found my love and motivation in life at long last: Hip Hop. After many bruises I decided that the Bboy life wasn't for me (but I can still outrock any suckers, you know it!). I picked up a pair of Technics 1210s and started ruining my finances by exploring vinyl culture. Started out as a bit of fun but soon became my life as my record collection grew. I keep it mainly old school Hip Hop and Funk from the late 60s and early 70s. In my boxes you can find the likes of Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Public Enemy, Nas, Run DMC and too many other heads to name. But I still never sleep on newer stuff as long as they BANG! Starting to feel dirty south at the moment but will keep yall posted if it's just phase I'm going through! My style? Probably a "mash up party rocker"(!), throwing beats and accappellas left right and centre, beatmatching within a matter of seconds, with a touch of turntablism - scratching, beat juggling (yes you know I got doubles!). If you ever want to know what would happen if Justin Timberlake and the Beastie Boys made a collaboration, or Gwen Stefani with Harold Faltermeyer, or Sam Cooke with Pete Rock, or if the Black Eyed Peas were taken back to that pre '75 golden era of underground funk? Or even FLEETWOOD MACK WITH RUN DMC(!?!?!), then just ask me! Gimmicks are gimmicks though and the backbone of my sets would be the most classic Hip Hop records of all time. This battle strategy usually tends to work for me and I can always hold it down for the most hardcore Hip Hop heads as well as any old party goer out for a good time. What have I done then? Private parties, bars and clubs here and the Middle East, including Ocean Rooms in Brighton, Bognor Regis' MUD CLUB which in the past has been graced by DMC UK champion Cut Master Swift and even living legend Hip Hop Pioneers DJ Ca$h Money and Jazzy Jeff. My best moment would definately be in November 2006 at Mud, the night DJ Semtex (Radio 1 Xtra UK Hip Hop and Grime DJ, also Tour DJ for Dizzee Rascal) was due to play but didn’t attend due to unfortunate circumstances. I didn’t just end up ‘warming up’ for Semtex, I had to take over the set and rock the house for the main event of the night. I was also chosen to warm up for 2 piece up and coming Hip Hop/Funk/Dub band ‘Kaya’ upon their visit to Chichester. Further East, I opened for Lebanon’s Radio One DJ: Shadia at Beirut‘s premier spot, BASEMENT. Shadia is currently one of the few deejays repping the scene in the Middle East and broadcasts across various countries in that region, warming up for 50 Cent upon his visit to Lebanon.I play mainly for the love of the art, and can adapt to any venue's requirements within urban music. Like I said though, it's all about the love of the music for me. I can't name anyone else who's as passionate about this shit as me, and I have a way of making the crowd feel this love too. I ain't no money grabbing stop and dropper. Saturday night fakers doing this for the wrong reasons better be ready. I don't play."For bookings please message me or email me at [email protected]"Mashup Madness

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: My Eyes, My Ears, My Hands, My Records
Influences: DJ YODA: Showed me that you can play whatever makes you happy, I don't think this man gives a shit about what people think. He gave me the guts to buy those records that I really like, even if it means getting dissed by backpacker associates. The fact that he's sick as a deejay is also a bonus.ALL THE ARTISTS IN MY RECORD BOX: thanks guys, we had some great times-even if you yall weren't there personally! It's your hard work and creativity that's given me my purpose.X-ECUTIONERS: My first ever deejay album: showed me how the deejay can stand on his own two feet without a rapper. The truest heads to the turntablism art form there is.PUBLIC ENEMY: My first ever Hip Hop album - It Takes A Nation Of Millions. Sorry I'm 20 years late.CHRIS FADER: My good friend, mentor and the one who lead me to all this. The one who understands and relates to this love of records, Hip Hop and Deejaying. I'm glad I'm not alone man. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.DJ JAZZY JEFF: The Mud Club gig in the Summer of 2005. Ripped the shit out of the place and left a lifelong impression on me. Hope to get there one day.KRS-ONE: The greatest MC of all time and my favourite. As a DJ, I go for beats before lyrics but he's the first MC that actually made me flip it the other way round.ALL OTHER REAL DEEJAYS THAT I'VE EVER HEARD OR SEEN: I listen to yall with great interest and am always comforted to know yall believe in this too. My gratitude.
Sounds Like: The CD versions of the records I play.

Playing games to playing records... What's the difference anyway?
