In the beginning, many changes occurred both internally and externally in the band's struggle to find a sound that catered to every members needs. Eventually finding their own niche 12oz began the long process of writing and recording a twelve track record dubbed Don't Ignore This. Although the sound was rough to say the least, it was ground breaking to them at the time. The CD opened the gates for more shows and a broader fan base, while single handedly exposing 12oz empty to the people of Iowa. Things were good in their world, but time was not on their side.
High school graduation came quicker than any expected and 12oz was left wondering where to go. With three band members heading off to college, the only choice was to take a seemingly indefinite hiatus. Because of the large distances between the members, it looked as though 12oz would cease to exist altogether. The biggest hit came in the form of lead guitarist Andy Reyerson moving to Minneapolis to pursue a career in the music business (we wish him the best in all of his endeavors).
Back in Iowa, the remaining four were left with only one question: What if? What if they found a new guitarist? What if they played with only four? What if it was time to move on? Or maybe this was their chance to become something completely new altogether? After a year and a half of uncertainty, Adam, Chase, Ben, and Wepp decided to move on and forge 12oz into what it is today.
Now all four members are all set to live in the Iowa City, IA area and are both writing and recording once again. Set to release an EP titled The Rebirth with six new tracks this summer, the band hopes to gain a broader fanbase and expose their unique sound to the masses. Now 12oz can only look towards the future. With plans to play as many shows as possible throughout the next year, and the hopes of evolving into a recognizable name within the music industry one can only wonder............what if?
