Anything by Terry Prattchet The Dragon's of Pern Books by Anne McAffry (sp) Anne Rice Vampire Series: Interview, Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned (so much better as a book than movie), Vampire Armand, Merrick. All the Hitch Hikers books Good Omens Magical Kingdom Series by Terry Brooks The Spellsinger Series by Alan Dean Foster I've also read all of the current Sword of Truth novels by Terry Goodkind (frankly a good few in the middle of the series are s**t)
I tend not to idolise people, there are people I think are cool; but I never consider them 'My Hero' so to speak
