Nemo-Nemo

Hi everyone, my name is Nemo and I am a soon to be 3 year old Yorkie. I live with my friend Troy, he's a French Bulldog. He has a girlfriend that comes down and plays every now and then, her name is Chloe. I love when my mom and aunt are home to play with me, otherwise most of my time is spent sleeping or on the couch looking out the blinds. I have a nice backyard and occasionally me and troy like to go tanning on the patio. I love car rides and people, which is a good thing because my mom pretty much takes me everywhere. Now a little about just me. I have had a very rough ride; my grandma brought me home in December of 2003 when I was only 6 weeks old. I was supposed to be a Christmas present for my mommy but I got very sick. The doctors think that it was because I was taken out of my litter. My grandma has two Yorkies that I was around, but because I was supposed to be a surprise so I stayed at a friend’s house when my mom was home. Anyhow I got very sick and quit eating. The doctors put me on an IV for a few days. Then my mom ended up getting me as an early Christmas present because I needed special attention. I had to be hand fed for about two weeks, because I wouldn’t eat or drink anything. I turned out almost perfect though; I am the happiest, nicest, most loving, and most loved dog there is. Something else happened about a year later though. As most of you know all of us 'small' dogs have bad knees. Our joints pop in and out all the time, most of the time we can fix it on our own. Well when my mom first noticed this obviously she took me to the doctors right away. Mommy was assured that it was all natural and that there was nothing she could do except to comfort me, and give me the occasional pain pill. Well she accepted that answer for a couple months, but she noticed that I wasn’t getting better. She took me to a special hospital in Orange County, CA, where I saw a doctor who specialized in knees on dogs. They took x-rays and noticed that there was something wrong. The way that me and mommy understand it is that my knee cap never developed all the way, it’s kind of like a newborn baby’s soft spot on there head. The doctor told me and mommy that he has never scene anything like it before, he had only read about it in magazines, so it is still extremely rare. The worst part is that they can’t fix it. They could perform surgery but it would only be experimental because they have never scene it before, mommy decided that she didn’t want to put me through the pain of surgery. It’s been about 2 years almost and I rarely have a problem with it, so mommy thinks that she made a good choice. Although I have learned that I whenever I want attention I just pretend like it hurts.
